Harlin said at Comic Con they did some re-shoots or as he called them "enhancements" based on the audience reaction and feedback from the 1st movie.

Opens tonight. Seeing it at 7:45pm
Reviews aren't very kind.
But, it's horror and I have to follow up the cliffhanger from the 1st one.

I'm gonna jump in here and say as a hater of HIM, I too will be seeing this and part 3. I'm seeing this because I love movies. I love going to the theater and I don't care for CinemaScore or rotten tomato scores and I really try to see all that I can. I personally don't see going to the movies as a waste of time.

Just got back from seeing it. If this was a season of TV, this would be the “Midseason Finale”. It’s an incomplete movie. It’s basically the bridge movie to whatever is next in Chapter 3. I didn’t hate it, but also didn’t think it was good because it doesn’t resolve anything.
There is a mid credit sequence that’s basically scenes from the final chapter. I hope Lionsgate doesn’t wait 12 months to wrap this up.
They do answer some questions about the origin of The Strangers.
Lionsgate must have given Madeline Petsch a nice paycheck to give her Executive Producer credit on these movies. I mean she was essentially Harlin’s boss on set.

I decided to see this on an XL screen showing. There were maybe 3 other people in this large theater for a 7pm showing last night. To prepare for this, I hadn't seen Ch 1, so I bought it on Vudu for $5, and watched it earlier in the day. It was pretty bad/cliche to say the least, bad guy sitting in the chair while she was playing the piano, she turns around and he's gone. Bad guy in the bathroom watching her take a shower, she turns around and he's gone. The second movie was just as bad, I mean okay, they have a hospital in a town of 300 people? And while quite large, the hospital only has maybe 2 employees working there at night? The bad guys have no problem killing bystanders left and right, but the police don't seem too concerned about this carnage? And the trope where she disables the bad guy (stabbing, hitting, shooting, whatever) to where they are unconscious, but rather than finish them off, she runs off, then the bad guy shows up later going after her without having any noticeable injury? And what the heck was the entire sequence with the warthog needed for, including the odd flashback that they were pets of the psycho killers. I'm sure Ch 3 will answer my questions. I'd give it a 1.5 out of 4, but I'm fine that I saw it, and I'll still check out Ch 3. because I'm a glutton for punishment.

I thought part 2 was excellent (CGI boar and all). It was a good horror flick. Petsch isn't a "final girl" just yet though (that damn body though). I see people bitching about "they're supposed to be strangers!!" because we're getting info as to who these strangers are - I don't see what the bitching is all about - it adds a nice layer and they didn't expose it too much at all (expose as in linger on it, go too far into it, etc. NOT the actual character reveals themelsves).
I was surprised by this one.
The trailer for 3 looks really good as well.

Watched part two last night. Why does the entire town act all weird but no one wants to do anything about killers running around for who knows how long (seems like it's been going on for a long time)? Maybe part three will explain that. It was better when they trio were completely mysterious so the added flashbacks were not needed for me. The way the second one was edited was not good either, it just jumped around too much. Anywhos, seeing part three tomorrow.

This weekend is a little tight as I have to work this weekend. But, I might try to see this last chapter Saturday. I've seen all The Strangers movies in the theater including the previous 2 iterations. Why end it now on the last one?

Welp, that's over. This one probably could have been edited into the second one and it would have been fine. More backstory given. Compared to the previous chapters, this one is actually pretty quite. Quiet in that it's not a chase movie, I'm at a loss for what it can be described as if you think of the first as a home invasion flick and the second as a chase flick.

I just saw it. The vast majority of you probably won’t watch it, so I won’t type some deep thoughts review
It’s maybe slightly more entertaining than chapter 2, but not by much. There are a few kills, but nothing too graphic. And it has more backstory on the Strangers. The end almost made made completely roll my eyes when they seemed to be hinting that
If you absolutely have to see this, wait for a discount matinee or VOD under $10. Or use A-List or Regal Unlimited. Thankfully it’s barely 90 minutes. There was no reason this should have been a trilogy. I agree that they should have just tightened this and 2 up into one movie. Hopefully Madeline Petsch enjoyed her payday on this series. I can’t imagine any other studio would give her this kind of deal and EP credit.

Obviously this is a series with declining returns and dumping it on Super Bowl weekend with almost no marketing showed Lionsgate just wanted to dump it

I went to see this today, and it was similarly bad as the previous entries. Almost every sequence is unbelievable and groan inducing just like the earlier movies. She steals the cop car then immediately gets distracted looking at her phone and crashes. Her sister brings a tough looking bodyguard who has a weapon and is hidden but gives up immediately when challenged? And she's driving her sister to get help then decides not to? Just terrible writing
