Those candy boxes didn’t exist in 1986

Looks like that popcorn did though.
Dude on the end sorta reminds me a young Skeet Ulrich

Weill check it out when I can easily for free. After Clerks 3 I’m not spending any more money on anything directed by Smith.

If Kevin pics up weed again, we're gonna get a "Damocles, king of the beavers" movie...

Hmm, it looks like it’s just a bunch of “Hey, remember this pop culture reference from the 80s?” but also a bunch of fake movies the kids are seeing? I’m not sure about this one.
Looks like Smith called in favors from all his friends though.

Hmmm... maybe I'll consider going to the premiere at the theatre.

Looks very bland to me. I'll skip it.

The funnies bit in the trailer was Smith's movie credits, ending with "and probably Clerks IV"

Starts rolling out this week. It doesn't seem to be a wide release yet. None of my local theatres have it listed. The closest one is the one Smith owns, where the movie was filmed.

I saw this at the Vancouver screening with Kevin in attendance. I really enjoyed it. Wasn’t perfect but had a lot of heart and some good laughs. The 80s trailers were amazing too and I loved the cameos. I wish Kevin stayed away from view askew movies and did more stuff like this. 3.5/5. Might be a 4 later because I think it’s gonna have that Mallrats replay value.

I wish this was better. In other hands it could’ve been great. A great coming of age story, but Smith took the life out of it. It was ok mind you, but I thought it could’ve been so much better. And, the cameos, especially Justin Long and Adam Pally were terrible. All in all, not sorry I saw it. I was entertained. I mean it’s only like 1:20, so no real time to cut and run. Potential, but slightly underwhelming.

I will say the actors were really good, especially Brian David character.

What a pile of shit. How does Smith make a movie in 2024 look cheaper and less accomplished than he did in 1994 for $28K?
The biggest crime is Smith’s stories about growing up are charming and well told by him personally; this being an adaptation of his life is astonishing as it is entirely charmless, lame and pointless. Not a single laugh and insufferable even at 87 minutes.
As I suspected casting his daughters D-list boyfriend as the lead results in a movie with a desperate tone deaf performance.
I can honestly go my entire life without spending a dime on anything new Smith has to offer.

Finally saw this. Man, it was bad. I wanted to like it so much but just couldn't. The kid/guy playing the Damone clone was annoying. Why did he care so much about the lead dating that girl?
There were some cute moments, but it all amounted to a wink & nod at nostalgia. I'm sure they had a blast making it. Sadly, they had more fun making it than we as an audience did watching it.
