Drago — S: Dolph Lundgren — In development at MGM

Re: Drago — S: Dolph Lundgren — In development at MGM
Spinoffs of spinoffs....
How deep does this rabbit hole go? |
Re: Drago — S: Dolph Lundgren — In development at MGM
This is getting silly.
I'll hold off until we get one for Mickey. |
Re: Drago — S: Dolph Lundgren — In development at MGM
Deadline is now reporting it too.
I have to wonder if this will actually get made considering the political situation with Russia. The story says it will focus on The Dragos. However, I can’t imagine they will try to make them speak Russian an entire movie even though they spoke it in Creed 2. But it was only in brief scenes. |
Re: Drago — S: Dolph Lundgren — In development at MGM
I mean, Viktor was a friggin' beast, just super rough around the edges like how Adonis was in the first Creed film. He has his own redemption story, so I'm down for this.. also considering that they are set in the Ukraine with all that is happening currently, it may be more than just a boxing story.

Re: Drago — S: Dolph Lundgren — In development at MGM
Was hoping this was a biopic of Billy Drago.

Re: Drago — S: Dolph Lundgren — In development at MGM
I never got into the Rocky Franchise but I do very much enjoy Dolph's resurgence in Films and TV. It's good seeing him again and wish him all the best.

I'm down for this. Hell yes.

Re: Drago — S: Dolph Lundgren — In development at MGM
Out of all the other characters in the Rocky films, this one is the one I'd be most interested in seeing in another film. The aspect of his fall (shown in Creed 2), how the country turned on him, his wife left...Drago really only had his son as some kind of redemption and that also failed. Arguably, Drago is lower then Rocky was in Rocky 1 now.

Re: Drago — S: Dolph Lundgren — In development at MGM
Drago Jr. is in Creed III so curious to see how that will all shake out to lead to this.

Re: Drago — S: Dolph Lundgren — In development at MGM
Drago was a heavy steroid drug junky. I wonder how they going to bring that to light. It was the drugs that made Drago close to invincible which later on wore off.

This would be the story I'm interested in seeing, but since Lundgren is now older I don't see how the could do it. Nevertheless, I am down with the concept of a "Rockyverse". |

Did you not watch Creed 2? They kind of covered it there. Drago lost everything and his wife long left him. The only thing he really had was training his son.
I haven't seen Creed II yet but I will give a rent very soon on Amazon Prime. Part of the reason why I wasn't too interested was because Ryan Coogler was not directing it. Greatly enjoyed the first one. |
Re: Drago — S: Dolph Lundgren — In development at MGM
Wow!!! Sly was not aware of this spin-off and he's pissed. You don't even tell the man who created the character and he learns about it in the trades.

Re: Drago — S: Dolph Lundgren — In development at MGM
Does he have any ownership in the Rocky IP? No. He'll get producer money thrown his way without ever having been involved, but he doesn't really have any leg to stand on with whatever the studio or Irwin Winkler wants to do.

Re: Drago — S: Dolph Lundgren — In development at MGM
I remember after seeing Creed 2 (and I believe I even posted something in that thread) that I was far more interested in seeing more of the Dragos than what happened with Creed next. Glad others in Hollywood seemed to feel the same. This has a lot of potential - doesn't mean it will be good, of course - but the potential is there.

Re: Drago — S: Dolph Lundgren — In development at MGM
I thought the Drago story in Creed II was really good. Very well handled. It COULD make for a good movie.
Actually, I agree that a Drago movie has more potential for good drama than does Creed III. |

 I'm glad that Dolph's friendship with Sly means more to him than a job.

Well this is all amazing to watch lol

Re: Drago — S: Dolph Lundgren — In development at MGM
Yeah, I agree. This is dumb doing these. Here’s a non Instagram article in Stallone’s feelings about this.

Looks like Stallone now deleted his two crazy posts. The last one he went a little overboard.

Re: Drago — S: Dolph Lundgren — In development at MGM
I'm a Stallone fan but he is being a bit ridiculous here. I do think he has some beef--they should have at least told him it was coming or given him a producer spot or something like they did with Creed III (and even then he wasn't happy). That said, the way he keeps saying he wishes he could leave an ownership stake in Rocky to his kids as if he's going to be buried in a pauper's grave--come on, man. His kids should be well taken care of unless he has blown his fortune. And if he does think he deserves an ownership stake, which is not without some merit, surely there was a better way to go about it than dashing off some poorly written social media posts insulting the people that could give you the stake.
