Cameron Diaz is officially out of retirement.
The actor, who stepped back from Hollywood in 2014, will star alongside Jamie Foxx in Netflix’s action-comedy “Back in Action.” The project reunites Diaz and Foxx, who worked together on 1999’s sports drama “Any Given Sunday” and 2014’s “Annie” remake.
Seth Gordon (“Horrible Bosses”) is directing the movie from a script he wrote with Brendan O’Brien (“Neighbors”). Plot details are being kept under wraps.
Foxx is executive producing “Back in Action” with Datari Turner, O’Brien and Mark McNair. Producers are Beau Bauman (“Central Intelligence”) for Good One Productions and Seth Gordon via Exhibit A.

When I think of Back in Action, this comes to mind.

^That is a great flick IMHO.
I read the thread title as
Back Door Action when quickly glanced and I saw the XX in Foxx's name... Not enough coffee yet.

EXCLUSIVE: Kyle Chandler and Glenn Close are set to join Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx in the Netflix action-comedy Back In Action. The project drew headlines when it was announced in June on Foxx’s social media accounts as it marks Diaz’s return to acting after retiring from acting in 2018.
The storyline for the action-comedy is being kept under wraps, but Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) is directing from a script he wrote with Brendan O’Brien’s (Neighbors). Beau Bauman (Central Intelligence) is producing for Good One Productions alongside Gordon for Exhibit A and Jenno Topping & Peter Chernin for Chernin Entertainment. Foxx, Datari Turner, O’Brien and Tim Lewis are exec producing.

Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx star in BACK IN ACTION -- coming later this year to Netflix.
Years after giving up life in the CIA to start a family, these former spies are dragged back into the world of espionage when their cover is blown. Also starring Kyle Chandler, Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, and Jamie Demetriou.

Looks fun but, Jesus, yet another “Former assassin/spies turned family man/woman get brought out of retirement after their past catches up with them” movie?!
These movies are like the bread and butter of streaming services. I feel like every streaming platform has half a dozen of them with the same basic plot.

Since this is coming out this week, I can say that I saw this movie last June. Netflix allowed me to view it early and then review it.
I didn’t hate it, but it’s a pretty generic and forgettable family action comedy. Some okay action and stunts, but that’s about it. The kids are pretty prevalent and I know how this forum feels about kids in movies. It’s watchable, but there are hundreds, if not thousands of hours of better things to watch out there. I can’t really recommend this.

I hope the movie is good enough to live up to the promise of the title.

I watched this over the last two nights. I enjoyed it, laughed a lot. It is great to have Diaz back! She was channeling her Charlie Angels character in this.
