Re: Movie Studios
Odd decision because I'm sure many HBOmax subscribers have no interest in the Discovery content. I subscribe to both so I'm guessing I'll see a savings for at least the short term

Re: Movie Studios
I'm interested! I haven't seen any of the Discovery channels since the cable days. So it's nice to see them again. Don't care if they increase the price. Would still be a better deal than cable.

Re: Movie Studios
No, I agree Discovery+ is great, I just don't know how many HBOmax subscribers will be happy with a price increase for a service they didn't ask for. A bundled discount format seems much smarter.

Re: Movie Studios
Yeah especially since HBO Max is still kinda behind in the streaming race, so they need to be very careful with the price. Win over people first, then do a price increase.

I wonder if this means AT&T customers will stop getting HBO max for free

Re: Movie Studios
Part of me is for this. There seems to be too many individual streaming services that just won’t make it unless they bundle with a bigger service.
The other part of me thinks back to the heyday of cable when I was advocating for A la Carte cable channels. Now that steaming services are doing just that, it’s difficult to keep up (or care) about so many different packages available.
As long as the price of HBOmax doesn’t go up too much (or at all!) I’m ok with this.

Re: Movie Studios
Supposedly the merger of these two streaming services will save Discovery a lot of money. Probably from an operating cost standpoint and there will be some overlapping with jobs and such.
I read it's not going to happen for awhile, so it's not really worth worrying about right now.

Why not just subscribe to HBO Max if that's the case?

Amazon Closes $8.5B MGM Acquisition
The deal was announced last May and was driven by Amazon's interest in MGM's intellectual property.https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/bu...4c9ce9541f3e30

I love Netflix but $24 is out of the question. Maybe in 6-8 years, no sooner.
