Officially moved to April of next year. If you haven’t been following, they have to do major reshoots due to a legal issue involving a character in this movie.

Hopefully the reshoots include Michael turning out to be a fat white guy in a mental institute.

Doing an internet search, Lionsgate still hasn't decided if this will be one film or two.

They definitely got Michael’s look right.

I know some of you aren’t very fond of MJ. But that teaser looks awesome. I’m looking forward to this next year. MJ’s nephew appears to have his uncle’s mannerisms and dance moves down. Whether you like him or not, MJ is an icon in music and pop culture history.

Great teaser, already feels like an event film you mark your calendars for.

Will it be as generic as that Whitney Houston bio pic from a few years back?

I can still appreciate the music but this thing and any other thing that celebrates him as a person are a tough sell for me. Trailer looked like just a run of the mill bio pic and nothing special to me though my stated issues might be impacting my thoughts on it.

Yeah, it looks like nothing special to me. I can watch music videos of the real MJ performing Thriller if I want to. Unlike Bohemian Rhapsody or A Complete Unknown or Deliver Me From Nowhere or Rocketman, this isn't a famous actor portraying a famous beloved musician l, it's a literal Unknown actor portraying his relative. He might look a lot like him, but there are dozens of MJ impersonators on the Vegas Strip any night of the week. Can he act? And will he bring anything to his performance beyond a respectable approximation of the real performance? And is there any compelling reason to see an unknown actor do an MJ impression on the big screen? I have my doubts.

Did Rami Malek, Taron Egerton or Austin Butler count as famous actors? My wife never saw The Pacific, Mr. Robot or The Kingsman and she enjoyed their performances regardless. Austin Butler was even less known. I don't know if Jafaar Jackson can act and the movie stands or falls with it, but I'd asume Antoine Fuqua would't cast him only because of his name. He probably wouldn't have cast him without his name, but if he screen tested well, why not?

There definitely is a lot of interest in this movie.

If the movie is halfway decent, it will make more than a billion. Michael Jackson is the most iconic musician and every part of his life story lends itself to a great story for a movie.

I mean a lot of people have an issue with him being a predator. It's a complex legacy. He might not be quite as beloved as you think.
I worked in a Southern California pediatric hospital. They bussed a load of pediatric oncology patients up north to the Neverland Ranch once a year. To this day I am horrified that we were helping facilitate Michael's access to young boys. If the story is as sanitized as I suspect it has been to get approval from his estate, I expect a lot of justified push-back
