Just give me more Hanzo/ Bi-han leading up to the opening of the first film.

The first 5 mins set the bar incredibly high and then the rest of the film was just meh, along with limiting Max Huang's( Kung Lao) talents to just a few mins on screen.

Scott Adkins would be perfect. He has Hollywood star looks and wouldn't have to trained to movie fight, but I do understand that they are looking for a bigger name. With the right training and some Hollywood magic Laurence Fishburne looked decent on screen.

I enjoy Karl Urban's work as an actor but I don't seem him as Johnny Cage.

Karl Urban is a much better actor than Scott Adkins. Johnny Cage is one of the few well known Mortal Kombat characters who can really benefit from characterization and performance as opposed to just looking good in fight scenes. Linden Ashby did a great job in the 95 film and I'm sure Urban can deliver what the director has in mind.

The 2022 movie has grown on me a bit. It’s a good background movie while you’re doing something else. Enough cool parts to watch while ignoring the rest. Things like Sub-Zero making an ice dagger out of someone’s blood and stabbing them with it is just great stuff for MK fans.

I’m down for a sequel with a better script. The world they built looked great. .

They needed to better flesh out Bi-Han and his rivalry with Hasashi Hanzo. I know how it plays out in the games. But their enmity seems fully formed before the prologue, and no explanation is given. Nor do we find out why Hanzo descended into Hell.

I am glad we are finally getting Johnny Cage. He (or Sonya, Jax, or Liu Kang) should have been the POV character, instead of Cole Young (I had to look up his name, he was so forgettable, despite liking his actor from Into The Badlands). Hopefully the latter character fades into the background and is forgotten.

Adding Cole Young as the main character was the weirdest part. I know the 90s movie already did the "Liu Kang as lead, Sonya and Johnny as sidekicks" thing but that's still who I wanted to see here too. Even someone like Kitana could have been the lead.

I like that idea. Kitana uniting heroes from Outworld and Earthrealm against Shao Khan and Shang Tsung after learning the truth of her lineage would have worked better than what we got with Cole Young.

I want more dialogue zingers like the first one had. "It's a birthmark, he was born with it." :sarcasm:

Hopefully they handle Cole the same way they did Johnny in Annihilation.

The 2022 movie wasn’t great but I didn’t hate it like so many. A sequel with a better script should make for a solid little action movie hopefully. Glad to see Johnny Cage is being incorporated.

I question anyone who says the 2021 movie was bad but loves the 90s movies. The original Mortal Kombat might have been good at the time but it's aged poorly and Mk Anihilation is still one of the worst movies ever made.

Mortal Kombat: Annihilation is absolute trash. But the Mortal Kombat (1995), despite its faults, was solid overall even if it was just a fantasy remake of Enter The Dragon. Mortal Kombat (2021) is entertaining but flawed. And the addition of Cole Young was misguided at best.

I think the CGI in MK(1995) aged badly plus the puppet Goro is cringe.

I agree about the CGI. Especially Reptile. But I kinda still like puppet Goro, despite the obvious limitations. But I don't think even Sharknado has worse CGI than Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.

New Line has rounded out its cast for Mortal Kombat 2, with Martyn Ford (Red Sonja), Desmond Chiam (Joy Ride), Ana Thu Nguyen (Suka) and Damon Herriman (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) coming aboard for roles.

Ford will play villainous Outworld emperor Shao Kahn, with Chiam as Edenian King Jerrod, Nguyen as Queen Sindel and Herriman as Netherrealm demon Quan Chi.

New Line’s latest follows up its hit 2021 action adventure Mortal Kombat, based on the blockbuster video game franchise created by Ed Boon and John Tobias, which was released simultaneously in theaters and on the platform now known as Max in April 2021. Amidst an industry hit hard by Covid, the original opened at number one at the box office and went on to gross over $84M worldwide theatrically, also coming in as one of the most-watched titles in Max’s history.

While Mortal Kombat followed MMA fighter Cole Young (Lewis Tan) as he faced off against Outworld enemies in a high-stakes battle for the universe, details as to the sequel’s plot are under wraps. In addition to Tan, returning cast includes Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han and Sub-Zero, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion, and Max Huang as Kung Lao. Other newcomers set to appear alongside today’s group, as previously announced, include Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Tati Gabrielle as Jade and Adeline Rudolph as Kitana.

Simon McQuoid has returned to direct from a script by Jeremy Slater. Producers are Atomic Monster’s James Wan and Michael Clear, Broken Road Productions’ Todd Garner, McQuoid, and E. Bennett Walsh.

I think that was my next big question was who was going to play Shao Kahn. Ive seen the pictures of Martyn Ford and I'd say he's a good choice for the role
