Is there still an MCU?
And phases? I know slew of new ones coming out that had previous, but Black Widow, Shang-Chi, etc. Is this another phase that will lead to something or are these just one offs or beginning of some franchise and no ties in any?
Where does Marvel go from here? |
Re: Is there still an MCU?
Yeah, they just started Phase 4 this year. It's a bit all over the place now, but will kick in bigger with the release of new Spider-Man, Thor, Dr Strange and Black Panther movies.

Re: Is there still an MCU?
Nope.

It's the M-She-U now.

What are you high?

Re: Is there still an MCU?
I heard they accidentally left it on the counter and it went sour.

Re: Is there still an MCU?
Here you go. Try not to let that padded post count hit you on the way out.

Re: Is there still an MCU?
If an MCU movie falls in the forest and Oldboy didn’t see it, does the MCU even exist?
|
Re: Is there still an MCU?
It does sort of feel like it's fracturing with the introduction of the "multiverse."
Kind of like how DC's movie just said "Fuck it," after Whedon's Justice League bombed. |
Re: Is there still an MCU?
Unbelievable.

Re: Is there still an MCU?
I don't know, but it looks like it's still there, just entering a transition phase. I know I for one can't wait for The Thunderbolts. I know it's a long ways off, but back when I did collect comics, it was probably my favorite, and I still have the entire first run, despite selling a lot of my other comics (I also held onto Kurt Busiek and George Perez's Avengers run, and a bunch of the Ultimate comics by Bendis and Millar, along with more indie stuff by Brubaker, Ellis, etc.). Especially loved it when Hawkeye joined the team. I can see the movie being really good, if done right. And I also can't wait to hear who they cast in the Fantastic Four movie. Then there's still the whole mutant thing...There's lots of different paths they can take...Don't really have any interest in The Eternals or the just-announced Nova, but those are just a drop in the bucket when they have so much intellectual property to pull from....
Thus, I'm not too worried...Feige seems to have a handle on this... |
Re: Is there still an MCU?
I had no idea they were doing the Thunderbolts but really don't see how they can do it any time soon since they keep killing off their antagonists...
Can't wait for the all CGI Heroes Reborn and that comic accurate Liefeld Captain America, though. |

Re: Is there still an MCU?
Neither Thunderbolts or Nova were announced. That originated from a clickbait website, Geeks World Wide, and was one of their "exclusives". Nothing is official.

Re: Is there still an MCU?
It’s definitely still there. I do agree it feels a little all over the place at the moment. I also think Phase 4 has had kind of a ho hum start to it.
Hopefully things kick into gear more once some of the films with characters from previous Phases hit (Spider-Man: No Way Home, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, etc.). |

For viewers, Endgame felt like a final emotional release that had been built up over 22 (!) movies. Fans are spent and need a little bit of time to start building up their enthusiasm for the next phase. It’ll happen when the next Spider-Man, Thor, Black Panther, etc. are released. It also doesn’t help the cohesion of the films when the MCU has been split up to Disney+ shows either. Personally, I’ve seen all the movies (most in theaters) but haven’t been terribly excited for the D+ series (I’ve only seen WandaVision so far). Asking if there’s still an MCU is a silly question. I’m not sure how anyone who pays even the slightest attention can think there’s not. |
Re: Is there still an MCU?
Yes, of course there is with the streaming shows adding possible more dots to connect.
I'd say they are rolling down multiple options on where things could go setting up: Spoiler:
And that is before we get to, sayyy, Fantastic Four and the X-men. |

why did the MCU go out for cigarettes when I was 7 and never came back?

Re: Is there still an MCU?
What is so wrong with this thread with all the hate? Why not a legit question? Is there one? Is it going to lead into another Avengers: Endgame scenario with these new characters? What’s so wrong with understanding or asking about that?
This whole pandemic and lack of great great Marvel movies of late could make anyone wonder the future of a franchise most loved to pieces starting with IM in 08 to Endgame in 19. Why such animosity? |

Now if your question was "what direction are they going with the MCU", then maybe that'd be legit. But that wasn't your question. |
Re: Is there still an MCU?
Unless something truly compelling comes out, I'm kinda burned out on Marvel movies. I don't even know who Shang-Chi, Thunderbolts, Nova, Moon Knight, or She-Hulk are, had never even heard of The Eternals until all the buzz about the movie.
I guess I just need a break... |
