I'm going to check this out on Sunday. Not familiar with Justin Chon, but I heard some positive things about this movie. I don't personally see a lot of small indie movies like this, but I am interested after seeing the trailers several times.

Alright I just got back from seeing it. I know this movie is probably not really on anyone's radar here. It's a small film. But man, this was an amazing movie. Powerful and heartbreaking. Excellent job by Justin Chon as writer, director and star.
Really moving performance by him and Vikander. They actually had really good and believable chemistry together. The final scene was so heartbreaking and is a big punch in the gut. As I left, there were two ladies sitting together who were in tears and blowing their noses. There's a short sequence before the credits that gives a lot more context to the many true events of adoption and deportation cases that have happened in this country. This probably isn't the kind of movie that has replay value, but I'm glad I saw it once, which is good enough for me. I'd probably give it a 8.5 out of 10 and a B+ |

I would probably have checked it out had Ida not done a number on our theater here.

This is on PVOD already. I love the smaller films being out this quick at home.

This was a good movie and look forward to seeing more of Justin Chon in front of and behind the camera.
The acting was top notch. Nice to see Vikander again who was maybe on a break since I have not seen her in a lot of stuff lately. Spoiler:
I have Mrs. Purple on my dvr and he is involved with that so I will check it out. |

I appreciate that the movie brought the issue to light, but ugh, what a tough watch. It certainly didn’t help that the primary character made several questionable choices. I guess it’s good that one of the characters had a redemptive arc even though it helped mess things up at the end.

Really good movie. Even Alicia singing the title song during the party was well done. Wish the ending was better. Poor guy.
