So what is the most you would pay for a blind watch paid video on demand rental for a brand new movie release? Not owning it. You will only have it for 24 to 48 hours.

This is for something you’re interested in seeing of course.

I would pay $39.99 for No Time To Die opening weekend. Maybe $29.99 for Black Widow. Nothing else on the slate I would go over $19.99 for.

During this time, so far it's been $12, half of the ticket price went to a local theatre. I paid $9.99 for Never, Rarely, Sometimes, Always (which originally started out at $19.99 -- too much for a film like this). I wouldn't go much more than $12. I am the only one who is watching. $20 / $25 is too much for me and I would just wait until it drops. I watched Sonic last night for $5.99 (used an AMC gift card). I've rented multiple indies for $5.99.

The only thing that probably could've got $20 out of me was Black Widow.

If this involves VOD vs. going to the theater on opening weekend, I'd gladly pay $20. The key is that I can watch it on opening night / weekend at home instead of going to the theater.

If the release schedule is like what it is now (theater first, VOD a couple months later), $5 is my max.

$5-$8

Try to avoid it as much as possible and try to get everything from Netflix.

Feel stupid for buying Lucy in the Sky a couple of months ago since it is coming to HBO later this month though Netflix did not have it.

I pre-ordered Scoob! for $25 through Vudu, but that’s also a purchase. If I really wanted to see something (like Black Widow) I’d probably pay $20 for a rental. Definitely prefer a situation where I can own the movie instead of a rental though.

Well, I was willing to pay $20 based on the concept and trailer for Emma. but I was outvoted in my house. ;)

Thinkimg back to some of the things I’ve seen in theaters, I’d be fine paying 20 bucks for Knives Out and A Quiet Place. Maybe $15 for Last Christmas and Ready or Not. $30 for an a MCU movie.

I would go $20 max for a big budget film.

Indie or lower budget movies I would only go $5 or $6 tops.

I paid $12 the other day, but that was also to support a local theater (one of those 50/50 split deals) and was fine with that. $20 is alright to own it but being just me, I probably wouldn't do an early rental at that price.

We paid $20 for Trolls 2 as a rental only. Only reason was because my wife and daughter both wanted to see it sooner than later.
If it's just me, I dunno... It's tough to justify that kind of price. I think $7-13 is my range, and it really depends on how much I want to see it. So far, none of the titles offered have really stuck out for me enough to go for it

These are the catagories for me

1. I know I want I'll want to own it and will blind buy BD
2. Pretty sure I'll want to own it but a little iffy. Will buy BD when under $10
3. This looks like it might be good. But good chance they blew it. Rent first for
$6. Buy it if they didn't screw the movie up.
4. Looks like a good movie I'll enjoy but won't want to own or see again. Rent for
$6
5. Passable time killer. Will watch if free

And I'm pretty much the opposite. I know that, for instance, I'll be able to catch something like Mulan via multiple means after it's released for less than a $20 fee--I want to see it eventually, but it's not something that I have to see on opening day. But then again, I'm not susceptible to the blockbuster mentality, as I don't particularly care for action films and actively avoid superhero and Star Wars films.

On the other hand, I live in a fairly small city in Mississippi, and we don't get very many indie and foreign film releases at our theater, so I'm much more willing to pay a little more to see them. For example, Parasite never showed here, it never hit Redbox, and Walmart, the only retailer in town that sells new release movies, never got it in stock. It ended up being the only VOD rental that I've done so far this year.

Generally, though, I can wait for most anything to hit free streaming or a $4-8 streaming rental. I can't think of any upcoming film that I'm so excited to see that I'd pay more than $10 to rent via VOD.

My wife and I see all of them together. I’m in for at least $20 every time. And we usually get snacks. Add in my two kids who sometimes go with us and I can be in for $40 just for tickets alone.

I’d happily pay $30 instead for an MCU movie opening weekend at home. Way cheaper than the theater.

And I’d pay $50 to own it opening weekend. Which, again, is easily what I’ve put into every MCU movie between seeing it in the theater and then buying it for watching at home.

Since one can own everything for $10 or less within months of release, it would have to be less than that. Maybe $5 for something like a Star Wars or MCU release.

Considering a whole family could watch, I'd be fine with a $39 rental for a big release movie on day 1. Hell, I'd pay a premium just to not have to go to a theater.

I’m just not there yet. In the past week, I just restarted renting from Redbox. There just hasn’t been anything offered yet that I just “need” to see right now.

$5-10 tops for a rental. There is so much content out right now nothing is worth paying $20-30 for watching a rental. Watch something you own already. This is why most buy movies right?

IF they throw in owning it I would probably higher like they did for The Gentlemen.

People who chose anything less than 40 bucks are reason why it won't happen

Studios need to make money to produce these high quality (at least in terms of production values) films

More importantly, the delivery system to facilitiate movies on demand securely (film can;t be ripped) isn't cheap.

We aren't talking about regular streaming where the movie is on the net minutes later.

Really 75 to 100 bucks is realistic, and of course, you can have friends round

Do you consider going to a theater as a rental? 20-30 barely gets you two tickets these days.
