We always watch Die Hard on Christmas Eve. Leading up to the holidays is the usual stuff like Vacation, Home Alone, etc.

I’ve gotten such a big XMas movie collection now I usually rotate my Holiday favorites. I watched Silent Night Deadly Night last night and I’ll probably watch Gremlins tonight.

We always watch Die Hard, Love Actually, Christmas Vacation, The Bishop's Wife and the Charlie Brown Christmas. When the girls watch A Christmas Story, I go do something else. It's fine, but enough is enough.

Not necessarily on Christmas Day, but the week or so before I usually watch Christmas Vacation for sure.

I want to add something to the “is Die Hard a Christmas movie debate”. Early in the film McClain hear’s some music thats genre (rap) precludes it (in his opinion) from being Christmas music. Argyle insists “this IS Christmas music!” This is the film telling us that a genre bender is possible and that indeed what you are watching IS a Christmas movie.

Merry Christmas to you all at Movie Talk. Ho-ho-ho. Now I have a machine gun.

I'm a big lover of Christmas Carol/Scrooge. A Christmas Carol (1938) or Scrooged is what I often watch.

Always The Holly and the Ivy (1952) which has something to say about what Christmas is really about - families being utter ***** to one another.

The recent ape trilogy. Actually, I just saw "Rise" for the first time, but I intend to watch Dawn next X-mas, and War the X-mas after that.

Every year we watch Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

No real tradition, try to watch Christmas Vacation and Home Alone leading up to or on Christmas day.

Re: Watch any movie as tradition on X-mas?

Always go with Black Christmas, though this year I chose to watch the Joe Bob Briggs-hosted version from Shudder. Christmas day I'll watch a Tarantino movie. This year's selection will be Django Unchained. Only because I haven't seen it in a while.

I don't know if there will be a New Year's Eve/Day thread, so I'll also add that New Year's Eve is always a Kurosawa film for me (undecided on this year's selection), and oddly, I always watch the Tom Cruise teen sex comedy Losin' It on New Year's Day. I think I just watched it one NYD, and since then it feels like something I always want to see that day.

I grew up on Yogi's First Christmas / A Flintstone Christmas / A Flintstone Christmas Carol. I will usually run through these at least once and all season I may have them on in the background in addition to other Hanna Barbera Xmas specials.

That is not a movie but the closest to something I try to watch annually.

I like watching a new movie and sometimes I might watch a xmas movie but it is too soon to watch Home Alone, A Christmas Story, and Gremlins again after I watched them in the last couple of years.

Still have not seen a Wonderful Life but taped it on E! today and might save it for next year since it is a long movie.e

I try to watch Die Hard, Love Actually, It’s a Wonderful Life, and The Holiday every year, but on the actual day, the most likely titles are Eloise at Christmastime and Charlie Brown.

We always watch Die Hard while wrapping presents. Otherwise, no real impulse to watch any others specifically at this time. I’ll watch things like Christmas Vacation and Elf any time of year.

The week before Christmas I have in the past watched one Harry Potter movie a day, with final movie set for Christmas Day.

As a kid the old animated Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was a staple, as was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

The one movie I do love, and find highly underrated for Christmas, and watch almost every year is Santa Claus rhe Movie. Great film and John Lithgow is superb as the bad guy.

My wife and I watch a handful of Christmas movie every season. Die Hard, Elf, Home Alone and A Christmas Story (thanks to TBS) get watched every year and then 5 other random movies get played at some point during the season.

Re: Watch any movie as tradition on X-mas?

Yeah, nothing on Xmas day because it's all background noise while the kids open and play with their presents before we go out to a relative's house.

Xmas Eve and the weeks leading up, we watch every movie we can. We make sure to watch most of the Rankin Bass specials, Elf, Home Alone, the Santa Clause and one of the three Grinches. I still have young kids so they won't sit through It's a Wonderful Life or even a Christmas Story yet. This year we added Jingle All the Way because it was on HBO but I don't own it or anything.

December 24th -- Usually White Christmas and/or It's A Wonderful Life, but ALWAYS Meet Me In St. Louis

December 25th -- The Man Who Came To Dinner on Christmas night. Every year. I love that movie and it's perfect Christmas fodder.
