Most films watched on the big screen in 24 hours
I was listening to a movie podcast this past weekend where fans wrote in about the most number of movies they've watched theatrically in a 24-hour period. The one who topped everyone else was a woman who watched all eight of the Fast and Furious movies that her local theater was screening. IIRC it was one of those deals where the place showed all the previous installments of a franchise ahead of the new release.
So that makes me a lightweight because the most number of movies I've ever watched theatrically in 24 hours is two. How about you guys?

Most for me is three. I don’t think I could do a lot beyond that. I went to The Dark Knight Trilogy, which was back to back to back. Other than that I’ve gone to a couple in a day (usually with a bit of a break between) on a couple occasions.

In terms of buying tickets, I think three, when I watched the "Cornetto Trilogy" (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End).
But I've also worked a film festival where there was no traditional projection booth, and I had to be in the room the whole time. So some days I'd watch 4-5 movies, because there was little else I could do.

When I lived in Wyoming, I'd get out of town to Colorado on the weekend and do as much culture as possible, including movies that they wouldn't otherwise get locally. IIRC, one day in 2004 I once saw something like Finding Neverland, Alfie, and Kinsey all in one day, then a couple weeks later did Closer, Kinsey, and Million Dollar Baby, something like that. Both were all at the same mall cinema. I'd take a little walk in-between movies, window shop, get some movement. I feel like there was at least one time I did this, got dinner, them saw one more movie. I was very single and alone so I had lots of time to fill.

Six. Two days in a row. So 12 in 48 hours.
Plus 2 on the day before and 4 on the day after.

I did that event one year where they showed all the Oscar nominees. It was the year where There Will Be Blood was nominated. So five. Never doing that again. I will say it was weird seeing Juno in the same sitting as NCFOM, lol.

Five. A theater that was later bought out by regal had a food drive. Free movie for every three cans of food brought in. I brought 15 cans.
In one day I saw: Pleasantville, Practical Magic, Antz, What Dreams May Come, and Pleasantville again.
By the end of the fourth one, I felt really crappy. But I stick it out.

I think 3 for me. A self-induced double feature one day and a single movie the next. (Self-induced - I saw one movie then looked for what was starting right after it. I do that about once every six weeks or so if their showing times work out, which is harder and harder to make happen.)
Anything more than that, unless it's some special event like all the "X" movies and I'm really into it, doesn't feel good. Binging doesn't really feel good to me, I can't do more than 2 1-hour shows or maaaaybe 3 1/2 shows in a row.
I'm pretty sure I've seen movies 5 days in a row back in the salad days of Moviepass (and when my theater had movies starting 15 minutes after I got off work.)

2. Tombstone with dad in early afternoon. Schindler’s List at night with mom in 1993.

I used to watch double features from time to time when my theater would do that in the mid-90s. Honestly, anything more than 2 movies and it becomes less enjoyable and more of an endurance exercise which is no longer fun.

I guess 2's my limit. Only ones I can remember at the moment:
The Patriot/Scary Movie
*X2
*Kill Bill Vol 1
*Sin City
Coco/Lady Bird
Shazam!/Avengers Endgame
*Back to back showings. Although I first saw X2 as a matinee and went back later that night.
My theater did that too. But I only had time for NCFOM.

When I was a kid, theaters mostly had double features so lots of those. Sometimes I’ve gone to 3 in a day at the Seattle Film Festival. Also first time I watched Star Wars I stayed through 3 showings, then 3 more the next day, that’s the most I can remember.

I've taken time off work a couple times to buy a pass for the Vancouver International Film Festival. Its a 2 week festival. The first time I averaged about 4-6 films a day, but only lasted a week because I contracted swine flu (back when that was a thing). The second time I watched between 4-5 films a day for 2 weeks straight. I watched about 70 or so films in 2 weeks. It was too much, but I'm glad I did it.

Five in one day. I went to one day of those weekend marathons where they show Best Picture nominees back to back in early 2013 and saw Beasts of the Southern Wild, Amour, Life of Pi, Django Unchained, and Zero Dark Thirty all on the same day.

I used to go see double features and then sit through the whole bill a second time, so that would be four in one day. I did that with the early James Bond movies and with WEST SIDE STORY when it was released on a double bill with something like IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT or YELLOW SUBMARINE. I once attended a four-film Clint Eastwood bill in Times Square: the three "Man with No Name" Italian westerns, plus HANG 'EM HIGH, about nine hours total. The Elgin Theater used to run all-night quadruple features, e.g. the Marx Bros. or Sam Peckinpah. We'd go in at midnight and come out in the morning light. I also used to see five separate movies in one day when I would hit the revival theaters in the 1970s, a triple feature of W.C. Fields movies at the Bleecker Street Cinema, followed by a double bill of Francois Truffaut movies at the nearby St. Mark's Cinema, things like that.

Probably 3. Saw tons of double features at the drive-in.

Bit of advice. When an actress wants to share her bottle of vodka with you, no matter how pretty she is, the answer should always be "no!"

Re: Most films watched on the big screen in 24 hours
I'll push the 24 hour window a tad. I went to 5 movies in 25 hours back in October, 4 in one day at the Middleburg Film Festival (The Report, Waves, Just Mercy and Honey Boy), then the next morning I attended the film club I am in at a local art house. On a sad note, I didn't get to finish the the fifth movie because someone died in the theater about 45 min into the movie. Needless to say, the screening was cancelled.

Never found out. There was snoring noises, people started talking, then the movie got shut off and the reality sunk in. People started doing CPR, paramedics made it to the theater after like 5 min, we were cleared out, they stayed in for another 10, then rushed him out on a stretcher still doing CPR. Had probably been 20+ min by that point. It was just sad.

I’ve done four movies in one theater-going session. Back in high school, my friend and I worked out a schedule to hop from one theater to another based on timings.

Re: Most films watched on the big screen in 24 hours
During Oscar season, I tried to see as many of the nominated movies as possible. Even if it was only nominated for original song, it went on the list. The most I'd ever do a day was 2, but one night I tried three. I can't remember the first two movies I saw, at two different theatres, but I remember when I went to the third theatre later in the even to see Pedro Almodvar's Talk to Her, I dozen through most of the movie. Every 20 minutes or so I'd wake up and see a little bit before falling back asleep. Was a packed house. Hope I wasn't snoring.
The oddest two movies in one day I ever did was Arachnophobia when I was a little kid. I was hanging out at the mall and I friend and I went to the matinee (it was rated AA so we had to ask an older woman in line to buy our tickets for us). Then later that day, my parents decided, "Let's go to the movies! How about that Arachnophobia?" I was too embarrassed to tell them I'd just seen it, so we went back to the theatre and I saw it a second time that day.

At home: about 15 years ago I was on a movie forum where we challenged each other to see how many movies we could see in a row. I don’t remember how many I ended up watching but it was over like 34 hours watching them nonstop. Someone beat my record shortly after though.
theatrically: three years ago I saw 6 movies in one day, at four different theaters in NYC. Then last year I matched that when I saw 2001 in 70mm IMAX, then trekked to Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers for a 4-movie National Lampoon Vacation 35mm marathon... except I arrived super early and ended up seeing one more movie before it started, making it another 6 movie day.
I have tickets for next week’s Star Wars marathon. The Regal version shows them all within a 24 hour period, starting at 8pm. So that’ll bring it to 9 for me. Can’t wait!
