QT8: Quentin Tarantino, The First 8 (2019) -- 2 hour documentary -- 1 night only on 10/21/19
Take a journey through Quentin Tarantino’s first 8 films, narrated by the actors and collaborators who know him best in this one-night premiere event featuring exclusive bonus interviews.
Quentin Tarantino is the most influential filmmaker of the past 30 years. His bloody, talky, nonlinear films pull together dozens of influences to form bracingly original cinematic events. In a Hollywood that worships at the altar of franchises and remakes, Tarantino’s films are the best kind of tentpoles - wholly unique cinematic visions from a filmmaker at the peak of his powers.
As Tarantino's newest film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood arrives to praise and controversy, filmmaker Tara Wood takes us on a journey through the first 8 wildly divergent films that Tarantino has helmed, narrated by the actors and collaborators who have worked with him.
From Reservoir Dogs through The Hateful Eight, from the video store to the fall of Harvey Weinstein, QT8 digs deep into the story of the most important and controversial filmmaker of our time.
Interviews Include:
Bruce Dern, Michael Madsen, Christoph Waltz, Stacey Sheer, Scotty Spiegel, Zoë Bell, Richard Gladstein, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, Diane Kruger, Jamie Foxx, Lucy Liu, Samuel L. Jackson, and Eli Roth.

I’m interested but not enough to see it in the theater.
I’ve also paid pretty close attention to Tarantino over the years. I wonder how much of this documentary would be new information or if it’s the same stories we’ve already heard.

i doubt that Sony would license this film as an extra on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. It would be expensive and studios don’t want to pay for feature length documentaries anymore.
The producers of this film want to get paid and will want to release it on their own.

Like for example, I've heard both Samuel L. Jackson and Laurence Fishburne say Tarantino told them the role of Jules was written for them. Is one of them lying? Was Quentin running around saying that to everyone who auditioned? I think asking the three of them about this would be worth twenty seconds of screentime and might reveal something interesting.
Plus I'm tired of documentaries using "fun" animation to illustrate stories. It's so overused, I feel like it's mainly done to avoid paying for high quality stock footage.

Got a ticket for Monday. $15 minus a $5 reward credit I had with Fandango.
So, $10 plus the service charge. AMC doesn't honor Fathom events for A-List, so I had to pay for a ticket at Harkins.
We'll see how it goes next week.

I saw this last night. I guess not many people knew about this as there was only 7 people, including myself, in attendance at the theatre I went to.
Anyways, it was pretty good. It was a documentary told entirely from the perspective of the actors and producers who knew and worked with QT. There were a few notable people who did not participate like Harvey Keitel, John Travolta and Pam Grier. But the majority were there like Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen. Michael Madsen seemed to be the one who did the most talking.
The first 90-95 minutes, they covered his first 8 films. Afterwards, they went a little into the Weinstein scandal. The last 10+ minutes were mostly bonus interviews and an interview with the director.
Robert Forster did participate. Kind of sad that this was probably one of his last on camera interviews. He really credited QT for resurrecting his career.
If you're a QT fan, it's worth a watch whenever it hits digital or BD.

Currently available on Vudu, Amazon Prime, Google Play, etc.
Saw this earlier today.
Enjoyed the anecdotes and pacing felt solid. Could have done without Film Critic Louis Black.
