I think it was "Clash of The Titans" back in the 80's. Got dropped off with my same age cousin.

Star Wars in 1977.

I was 9, my brother was 6 1/2, and we had to share a front row seat (sold out, no seats together). That was a memorable moviegoing experience.

Friday the 13th Part VI - My friend somehow talked his mother into letting us see this movie on our own. I can still remember the conversation and everything...it was a bit magical getting away with it. It's still one of my favorite Jason movies.

King Kong (1976). My mom and dad let me go see it by myself on my 16th birthday.

First one I remember is Charlotte's Web - It was either 1st or 2nd grade. The whole class escorted by teachers walked ~1 mile (one way) to the dollar theater. Down a fairly busy highway. Started off by hopping the fence at the back of the school to cut through the farm field. lol

Memories. Either Night at the Roxbury or Pleasantville. I moved to Phoenix and was in awe of multiplex. It definitely felt weird going to the movies by myself at that age.

I'm pretty sure it was Return of the Jedi in 1983. I was seeing it for the second time and no one else wanted to go. Got dropped off and picked up.

I think the first film I saw by myself was Time Bandits which came out December 1981, I was 8 years old. I recall going into the bustling downtown core and my Mom walking me up to the box office and asking the ticket girl when the show would end. I watched the movie and after it was over I walked-out and my Mom was waiting for me outside as planned.

If that happened today, I'm sure the police would have been involved!

Most likely some Disney movie like The Apple Dumpling Gang. Hard to determine since I almost always went to the movies with my next older brother, even up into my early 20's. We both just loved seeing movies and it was rare that one of us saw something the other didn't, unless we went with friends.

Now, for an R-rated movie, that was definitely Excalibur. I was 13 at the time, though again, I had seen numerous R-rated films in theatres by then with my brother. My dad never had a problem buying us the tickets. Can't remember why I didn't see that specific film with my brother, though.

No it's not really. With today's multiplexes and theaters being a large hang out area there's no way I'd drop of my 7 y.o. off at the movie theater by herself. Times are different. Plus I don't live in smalltown USA.

That's the Catch-22 today is that no one is trusting their kids to be safe so therefore it seems absurd to drop an 8-year-old off at a movie theatre by themselves. Personally, I'm more scared when I watch a kid wearing headphones, a hoodie covering most of their head and staring into a phone while crossing a busy street and yet it's such a common sight that no one really perceives it as dangerous.

^ This was my first unaccompanied R movie. I’m sure I saw other PG-13 or under movies unaccompanied before this, but don’t have any memories of it.

My first unaccompanied R movie was Fight Club. My dad bought me a ticket and nobody cared. I felt special.

First R movie at the theater was Starship Troopers.

First boob was Nightmare on Elm Street 3 (which is still a pretty great movie).
