A few years ago I predicted that in the future famous celebrity stars will grace the screen once again. I feel strongly that this isn't too far fetched to happen. However there is the possibility of tarnishing the actor's reputation due to a shitty script. How great it would be to see Christopher Reeves again on screen playing Superman. Or Jackie Gleason doing a comedy. Or 50 years from now a young Arnold in Terminator 1000 lol

It's already starting to show signs but still needs much more time, refinement and improvement:





What is your opinion? Will this eventually happen or not and how do you feel about it? Is it morally wrong?

? Isn't this already happening with Carrie Fisher and even Arnold in one of the previous Terminator movies? Granted Arnie was still alive. I can't see watching a whole movie with a main character like that, though, even if the technology was perfect it would just be eerie.

Will it be technologically possible?
Sure.
Will it invite a million lawsuits?
You bet.

The only way it would be okay, is if the actor signed a legal consent form before they passed away, giving Hollywood the right to keep using their likeness and voice pattern for certain roles and movies within the moral bounds and terms of the legal document.

I can't imagine an actor of sound mind and body agreeing to.

This is technology I've been hoping would become more used someday. (Would love to see Sean Connery playing Bond in On Her Majesty's Secret Service.)

As for the morality of it, I feel like we've been doing this even before stuff like Peter Cushing in Rogue One. Technically, Steve Martin did it in Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid. That movie was had him appearing with all kinds of classic movie actors.

I'm wouldn't say no to seeing a movie set on the beach with bikinis starring a circa 1960 Raquel Welsh, a circa 1997 Denise Richards, a circa 72 Gloria Guida etc etc

I predict there will be movie stars who never truly existed. Action stars like Tom Cruise who are totally invented, never a real person.

The reverse is actually happening: current stars placed seamlessly into old movies. In ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, there are actual scenes from THE GREAT ESCAPE (1963) with DiCaprio's face and voice super'd over Steve McQueen's, to suggest how that would have played if Rick Dalton had gotten the part instead of Steve McQueen. It's pretty insane. I can see this technology being used to seriously undermine classic films, turning characters white or black to make the films politically correct in some fashion. A white Uncle Remus in SONG OF THE SOUTH, for instance.

It's probably inevitable.

New Indiana Jones movies. New Connery Bond movies. More seasons of the original Star Trek.

I wouldn't mind if they did it for unfinished movies because the actor(s) are deceased. Just for the scenes that were never filmed. I'd love to see the actual Game of Death story done or Somethings Got To Give. Otherwise, no. I think that would be stupid to do a whole film with a dead cast. At least with an unfinished film you can still feel and see the actor's take on a character.
