Stallone may return again as Rocky for another sequel
He discloses in our interview that he is working on a new “Rocky” movie for Winkler’s production company and MGM (which co-own the franchise) about the onetime boxing champ befriending a young street fighter living in the U.S. illegally. “We’re very high on it,” says Winkler, noting negotiations are underway for Stallone to write and star in the film. “We’re very anxious to make it.” Stallone divulged that there are also ongoing discussions about a “Rocky” prequel as a TV series, likely for a streaming platform.
....
Any possibility that “Rocky” would reappear on the big screen someday with you in the role?
There’s a good chance that “Rocky” may ride again.
What’s the basic premise?
Rocky meets a young, angry person who got stuck in this country when he comes to see his sister. He takes him into his life, and unbelievable adventures begin, and they wind up south of the border. It’s very, very timely.
So the story would touch on the immigration issues in the U.S. that are headlining the news today?
Yes. Do you tell someone that you just met in the street who’s struggling and homeless to get out, or do you take him in? If you take him in, you’re in trouble.
How close do you think this is to happening?
They want to go tomorrow.

How many times am I going to fall for him claiming "this is the last Rocky movie"? He's been saying that since the first one!

Why? He’s fine as a side character in the Creed films, but we don’t need to see another full Rocky film.

Every Rocky movie has a follow-up to make a two-movie story arc - Rocky & Rocky II, Rocky III & Rocky IV, Rocky V & Rocky Balboa, Creed & Creed II. So if Stallone is making another one, that means we'll get at least two more.

I'll believe this when I see Harrison Ford playing Indiana Jones again.

Quit while you're ahead Sly! I get it, it's showbiz and it's always about 'the next thing'... the train keeps on rolling...but c'mon...Creed II was a good ending. This whole interview that came out today didn't make a ton of sense to me... why would he have expected the rights to Rocky to be handed over to him after it made the studio (and him) a ton of money?

This is getting ridiculous. Same shit I mentioned in the Halloween thread. There comes a time you have to say enough is enough.
Balboa was pretty good. But I honestly didn't want anymore after that. Prefect way to end the saga. Creed and Creed II are awesome and there is where Sly should stay.
Why not make another series (like the Creed movies which are separate entities) instead of using the Rocky franchise name? Especially when he's no longer boxing.
Damn Stallone talk about milking it for every drop.

As much as I really, really like Rocky Balboa, and I like the Creed movies almost as much, it's time for Stallone to let it go.
It would really suck if the next Rocky movie was of significantly lesser quality than Rocky Balboa, and there is a very good chance that could happen.
I hope he comes to his senses, but he's kind of stubborn. Like Rocky.

I've gotta say I was pretty bummed out when news broke that "Last Blood" wasn't going to be the end of the Rambo franchise. I was looking forward to a good death with some closure with the character. So this news doesn't surprise me.

I really hope this isn't true. I don't know how much more of a sendoff do you need after Rocky Balboa and two Creed movies. Besides I thought Expendables 4 was next.

I didn't want Creed, and boy was I wrong, so what the hell, bring it on. The idea is actually kind of interesting.

The funny thing is they could have this, another Creed film, and a Drago Jr film all going forward if they so desired...

I thought Stallone was retiring the Rocky Balboa character after Creed II. I mean if you saw it, I thought it was a good sendoff for him. He said to Adonis it's your time now kid. Then he gets back with his son and meets his grandson.
