re: Marvel’s Fantastic Four (2024 D: Shakman) - news, rumors, etc.

I don't see them casting Krasinski AND Blunt for Reed and Sue.

I think they'd be leery about using a married couple as the leads because of the possibility they won't have on-screen chemistry, or audiences won't want to watch a married couple play a married couple. Gigli, anyone? Shanghai Surprise?

And another, what happens if they go through a really nasty divorce after the first FF movie? Would recast one or both?

On paper, they're a good choice, but it might not work.

That's pretty damning. Two whole examples in 30 years.

The problems with Gigli and Shanghai Surprise went far beyond the fact that there was a real-life couple playing the leads.

I vote Christoph Waltz with a voice modulator a la JEJ/Vader for Dr. Doom.

I'd like a little more weight in the voice of Victor Von Doom...

Listening to the monologue from Spectre.. I don't quite hear it.

If anyone (and I know he's already been in a Marvel production), but I'd be good with Vincent D'Onofrio.

Or if they cast Vince Vaughn (especially after Brawl in Cell Block 99).

Nor were JLo and Batfleck married.

I truly love all the FF films to date, even the Corman one. Though NOTHING will ever top the Reed Richards dance scene from Rise of the Silver Surfer, I'm looking forward to this.

He can do it. That's also why I suggested a voice modulator, to make it a little deeper.

Can either of those guys do a convincing Northeastern European accent?

Does he have to have the accent, Doom studied in the US.... even then JEJ didn't require much in the way of modulation as his voice was already very deep.

If they do go with Krasinski, I'd want the actor playing Doom to be at least close to his height, 6'3. If it's the accent you want, and if the rumors at the time were true, Viggo could definitely fit the bill for both. 5'11 as opposed to Waltz being 5'7. Both are probably aged out being 20 years older than Krasinski (same with D'Onofrio). And they would probably want Doom to be in the MCU for a while.

Doom went to college (or maybe just did his unfinished doctoral program?) in the US, but he'd still have his accent. I actually want different suit and voice guys. He shouldn't be seen out of the suit anyway. I actually didn't realize Waltz was that old. Truth be told, I'd prefer the MCU gave more roles to unknowns, instead of actors who don't need the help.

Then there'd have to be a scene with Randall Park playing Reed.

While I liked the actors in the last fuck up, I still hope, they have older characters in the new version and please, if you want diversity in your cast, you could at least have siblings be the same race.

I actually think Krasinki/Blunt fan casting is about as good as they could do. Blunt has been wanted by Disney/Marvel for years. Hope this happens.

Agreed. The FF have been my favorite Marvel superheroes since I was seven years old, after all the previous disappointing FF films, I really hope that Marvel doesn't break my heart with this as my hopes are high.

Submariner introduced in Black Panther 2. Submariner and Dr, Doom (FF#6) as the villains/storyline in MCU FF movie with Submariner turning good at the end and helping to defeat Dr. Doom setting up his solo movie.
Submariner fan, yes I can dream.

The first couple of movies were perfectly acceptable in a pre-MCU world. Decent effects, some good character moments here and there. A lot of swings and misses, but no Spider-Man 3 type nonsense. The dark reboot was pointless and terrible in every way.

The characters need re-introduced into the MCU structure and timeline. Hence the reboot. Since the first movies were set in modern New York and the FF were public figures, they really can't ignore why they weren't involved in the Battle of New York, or in any of the Infinity War storylines. I'm suspecting they emerge from the Quantum Realm somehow.

I just hope it's the "real" FF and not the Future Foundation crap from the newer comics. Although the Council of Reeds would be interesting to see.

There would be a much easier explaination for their abscence. The Fantastic 4 became fantastic by accident and if the accident hasn't happend yet, they don't have to be anywhere. It's not the same like the X-Men where you have to explain the existence of mutans.

re: Marvel’s Fantastic Four (2024 D: Shakman) - news, rumors, etc.

I'm still holding out hope that the MCU Fantastic Four is set in the early 60s.

I firmly believe that the concept works best in the early Space Age. They can do something (relativistic space flight, Negative Zone, Quantum Realm) to pull the FF (and Doctor Doom) into the current era at some point if they want to.

And, please, give us a real Doctor Doom, Lord of Latveria, and not some watered-down knock-off.
