Once again the un-imaginative drag out more reboots over and over Hollywood rears it's ugly head...this time a Blade reboot....I guess next year we'll hear about a Thor Reboot...a Captain America Reboot...and surely a Iron Man Reboot...this is getting pathetic....as far as I'm concern, Snipes is and was Blade...he had Blade down on all films. I don't care who and what awards or picture awards....I'll stick with Snipes and what he and others did on the other Blade Movies....

“To all the DAYWALKERS losing their minds right now, chillaaxx,” he said in a statement provided to EW by his rep. “Although the news comes as a surprise, it’s ALL GOOD. Such is the ‘business’ of ‘entertainment!’ Much peace to the MCU crew – always a fan. Honor and respect to the grandmaster Stan. Congratulations and Salaam to Mahershala Ali, a beautiful and talented artist whose expressions I look forward to experiencing for many years to come. Inshallah, we will someday work together. Most importantly to my loyal fans, the incredible outpouring of love is overwhelming. I am grateful for the never-ending support. So, ‘nah fret nah worry, it’s not de end of de story.’ Welcome to the Daywalker Klique.”

The Wesley Snipes movies are guilty pleasures, I'll miss him in the role. I'm sure Ali will handle it well though

I know him from Luke Cage, and that's about it. He was good in it though.

Didn’t recognize the name at first until Green Book was mentioned. Fun road trip flick and I’m always a sucker for those. Yeah, the man is a quality actor.

I follow Mahershala Ali's career since The 4400. Back then his name was Mahershalalhashbaz Ali. I really liked the show and him in it. Later I saw him in the tv movie 'The Wronged Man' which was good as well. He is great in everything he pops up. The Hunger Games, Hidden Figures and other supporting roles. He is one of those actors who should have become an A-Lister, while Hollywood was trying to push Sam Worthington or Jai Courtney to stardom.

It was actually a pretty good show. Blade has some of the best one liners and is a compete asshole, even to his allies (in an entertaining way).

They finally hired a writer for this:

https://link.hollywoodreporter.com/v...9.19g/95201043
BLADE HAS FOUND ITS WRITER.
Stacy Osei-Kuffour, a playwright who acted as story editor and writer on HBO's acclaimed limited series Watchmen, has been tapped to pen the script for the feature reboot of Marvel’s vampire-hunting hero that will star Mahershala Ali.
Marvel has spent the last six months meeting with writers in what was described as a meticulous search.
Only Black writers were seriously considered, a reflection of Marvel’s focus on diversity and making representation a key factor, especially when tackling nonwhite characters. And Osei-Kuffour’s hiring does break a barrier as she now becomes the first Black female writer to pen a Marvel movie. (Nia DaCosta, working on Captain Marvel 2, is Marvel’s first Black woman director.)

Watching the original Blade reminds me what a bad ass Wesley Snipes was. This was career defining. He was great. That first shot of him when Shane, from The Shield looks up to him should be so iconic and is totally memorable.

EXCLUSIVE: After a thorough search that involved months of meeting a slew of talent, Marvel’s new Blade movie has found its director. While a deal is not done yet, sources tell Deadline that Bassam Tariq, best known for directing the Riz Ahmed film Mogul Mowgli, is in talks to helm the the new adaptation of the popular comic with Mahershala Ali set to play the iconic vampire hunter. Stacy Osei-Kuffour is on board to pen the script with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige producing.
Marvel had no comment.
Feige, Ali and studio execs have been meeting with dozen of candidates going all the way back to the fall, at one point considering writer-director options before ultimately separating the two and tapping Osei-Kuffor to pen the script. Since her hiring, Marvel shortened its list of possible choices and started another round meetings that started in March and went all the way through June. Those that made the final cut met and delivered their final presentations over that time and in the end it was Tariq vision that ultimately won all parties over.
Tariq marks the fourth person of color to direct a movie for Marvel, joining Ryan Coogler, Chloe Zhao and Nia DaCosta, who recently was named director of the Captain Marvel sequel. Feige has made it his mission in recent years to diversify not only the cast appearing in front of the camera but those behind it as well and recent hires have proven that.
Plans for a new incarnation of the character, played by Wesley Snipes in a string of movies in the early 2000s, were revealed during Marvel’s senses-shattering presentation at 2019’s San Diego Comic-Con.
Created as a supporting character by Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan, Blade first appeared in Tomb of Dracula No. 10 in 1973, becoming a cult favorite. He is a human-vampire hybrid thanks to his mother being bitten and killed by a blood-sucker during childbirth. The character became a star in the 90s when New Line adapted the comic with Wesley Snipes on board to star, with two sequels following the hit movie.
Tariq’s hiring also falls in line with Marvel identifying young up-and-coming talent early in the directing realm just like they did with Taika Waititi after he directed Hunt For the Wilderpeople. Tariq’s only major film to date was the critically acclaimed pic Mogul Mowgli starring Riz Ahmed. He is repped by Range Media Partners, WME and attorneys Daniel Passman and Tara Kole.
