About Always Be My Maybe
Childhood friends Sasha and Marcus have a falling out and don't speak for 15 years. But when Sasha, now a celebrity chef in Los Angeles, returns to her hometown of San Francisco to open a new restaurant, she runs into her old pal -- a happily complacent musician still living at home and working for his dad. Though the two are reluctant to reconnect, they soon find the old sparks - and maybe some new ones - are there.
Starring Ali Wong (Hard Knock Wife), Randall Park (Ant-Man and the Wasp), Michelle Buteau (Broad City), Vivian Bang (White Rabbit), Karan Soni (Deadpool 2), Charlyne Yi (Paper Heart), Daniel Dae Kim (Hellboy), James Saito (While We're Young), with Keanu Reeves (John Wick) and Lyrics Born. The film is directed by Nahnatchka Khan (Fresh Off the Boat, Don't Trust the B____ in Apt. 23) from a script by Ali Wong, Randall Park, and Michael Golamco (Grimm, Please Stand By), and is produced by Nathan Kahane, Erin Westerman, Ali Wong, and Randall Park. Brendan Ferguson executive produces.

Didn't see a thread for this, but this comes out next Friday (May 31st)
I liked the trailer and it has charm. The little Keanu Reeves appearance made me laugh.

Her stand up show she's touring with right now is great. She pokes fun that being pregnant for each special isn't a sustainable business model. Looking forward to this movie.

This is up tomorrow on Netflix. There are only two reviews currently up on RT, but they both sound positive: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/alw..._my_maybe_2019

I enjoyed this movie too. I liked Randall Park and found Ali Wong funny. I never seen her stand ups. There are some vulgar humour sprinkled through out this movie but it also has some heart too. The secondary characters like the best friend and Marcus' dad had good lines. Keanu is the best though!
Based on the end song, it's just a play on words of the Mariah Carey hit.

I finally watched this tonight and loved it. It was so good and charming. Randall Park and Ali Wong were delightful and had great chemistry. Lots of funny and charming moments. I even loved the actors who played them as kids.
The Keanu Reeves scenes, especially his introduction were hilarious.
Even though it's not a theatrical movie, this is probably my favorite comedy of the year.

This was hilarious.
It is better than Crazy Rich Asians.
I liked the part where he had to use a metal bar to open the door in his car since the locks stopped working in 2007

I love Randall Park. I know he pretty much plays the same character all the time but it's very endearing. I thought it was really great and charming, but I thought that Park and Wong didn't have great chemistry together. I didn't really care for her too much in the movie. I think she played the whole cold bitch thing a little too well. That Keanu scene though. I had no idea he was in this and it was so over the top funny. He was the nicest douchebag ever.
