Re: Music Biopics you want to see?
Wu-Tang is getting a series...
FEBRUARY 12, 2019 9:00am PT by Lesley Goldberg
Hulu's Wu-Tang Clan Scripted Drama Series Sets Cast
Ashton Sanders (Moonlight), Shameik Moore (The Get Down, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), Siddiq Saunderson (Messiah), Marcus Callender (Power), Zolee Griggs (Ballers) and Erika Alexander (Get Out) have been tapped to star in the 10-episode scripted drama series for the streamer.
Picked up in October, Wu-Tang: An American Saga is based on the true story of the Wu-Tang Clan. Set in New York in the 1990s at the height of the crack cocaine epidemic, the series will follow the Clan's formation, a vision of Bobby Digs (aka RZA), who strives to unite a dozen young black men who are torn between music and crime but who eventually rise to become the unlikeliest of American success stories. The Clan has released five gold and platinum albums and has sold 40 million albums worldwide. Wu-Tang Clan members Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa and GZA as well as the Estate of Ol' Dirty Bastard, will serve as consulting producers. The series is co-created by RZA and writer Alex Tse (SuperFly). The series will be exec produced by Imagine Television's Brian Grazer (Empire, Genius) and Francie Calfo alongside Wu-Tang Clan's RZA and Method Man as well as Tse. Imagine's James Seidman will oversee for the company. Chris Robinson (Star, The New Edition Story) will direct and co-exec produce the pilot.
Sanders will play Bobby (aka The RZA). Creative and thoughtful underneath a hardened exterior, Bobby Diggs is accustomed to street life but can't let go of his dreams about music. He'd rather mess with loops and records, but knows he has to step up in order to provide for his family. Having been raised on a farm by his uncle, Bobby has a different outlook on life than his friends and brothers.
Moore will portray Sha Rader, a gunner for drug dealer Power Grant and a kid who grew up on the streets who now wields a gun without blinking. He's still got some innocence to him, however, and his friendship with Bobby makes it tough to carry out his orders.
Saunderson will play Dennis "D-Love" Coles (aka Ghostface Killah), who at 19 is a loving kid who would do anything to protect his friends and family. When he's not taking care of his two younger brothers while his mom drinks herself to sleep, Dennis serves as the right-hand man to Bobby’s older brother Divine in their increasingly competitive drug-dealing business based out of the Stapleton area. Dennis takes his role in Divine's crew seriously; he'll step up to any challenge if he feels threatened.
Callender will take on the part of Power Grant, the top dog of Park Hill, an area in the projects that he and his gang control as the chief rivals to Divine’s crew in Stapleton.
Griggs plays Shurrie, the second-youngest of four, but she's basically the woman of the house. She's taught herself how to care for others and take care of any issues around the home, all the while staying focused on school. Shurrie is in a relationship with Dennis that no one can know about.
Alexander rounds out the cast as Linda, an overworked mother of four who has been through hell and back. Now rid of her abusive husband, Linda spends most of her time at the rib shop working. She knows her relationship with her children has suffered, but has to put on a brave face and go to work in spite of it.

The Kate Bush story starring Lady Gaga
The Bee Gees
Would make for a very dramatic story with three major death scenes.

I have another one The Velvet Underground. Rami Malek would be perfect playing Lou Reed, Adam Driver as John Cale and Lena Dunham as Maureen "Moe" Tucker.

I wouldn't mind a Henry Rollins biopic. Mostly because I would love to see who would play him. But his "Get in the Van" days could make a good film. I'd love to see Sean (Tangerine, Florida Project) Baker film it. He's got the style to make a great punker road-movie.

A long time joke movie proposal I've had is "Girl You Know It's True: The Milli Vanilli Story". I heard someone was actually working on a movie about them.
I'd watch a biopic about any favorite 80s band, like Duran Duran. A documentary about Sparks is being worked on right now, can't wait for that.

I guess he got a little excited some times....
Wasn't there a TV movie about him done?
LOTS of drama there...he is/was a nasty SOB.
Going in another direction: J.S. Bach.
AFAIK, there has never been a major biography of him done.
Again, lots of drama to be mined.

Fleetwood Mac
Eagles (though the HoTE documentary covered everything pretty well)
Meat Loaf (I think VH1 did a TV movie version of this already)

Re: Music Biopics you want to see?
Yeah, I would assume that getting the rights to use any Beatles music would be a big thing holding up a film about them. I also don't know if Paul and Ringo or the estates of John and George would ever sign off on it. I think it seems pretty natural given how popular they remain to this day, but I don't expect it to ever happen.

I was going to say Mayhem and the whole early 90's Norwegian black metal scene but that's already happened with Lords of Chaos (I was kind of worried about how bad it might turn out but it seems to be getting pretty positive reviews so far). Not only Mayhem, but according to the cast list, other musicians who were/are a part of the scene like Faust, Fenriz, Blackthorn, etc. are also portrayed in it.

After reading their book, Motley Crue seems like it might be a good one. They're crazy.
But I think a Michael Jackson biopic would be interesting.
