You know I kinda like that!

A great plot is to have the original cast looking much older retired and the world at peace with no ghosts...that is until one of the kids of the ghostbusters stumbles into a hidden chest with a trapped ooze that sets a new breed of ghosts...and their kids find new propulsion gear that their fathers never used.

That would fucking rock to see their kids take over!

As long as he keeps his gentle filmmaking style, I think that'd be really cool.

That sounds like one of those paradox questions you ask a robot to make it self destruct.

If Jason Reitman writes and directs, Ivan just produces, and Fassbender is in every role, it would be the best film ever made of all time forever (and ever).

Jason Reitman is a smart man... and has already mentioned that he wants no part of the franchise.

Ivan Reitman just needs to retire or drop dead, whatever comes first at this point. The man hasn't been relevant in decades.

If you're going to reboot it, remove Reitman, Aykroyd and Ramis from the equation.

In a perfect world, just give J. Michael Straczynski reign and let it foster from there. However, Sony would never do that and they'll proceed to piss all over the franchise regardless of which way Reitman and company go.

Re: Ivan Reitman May Just Remake Ghostbusters

If a remake turned out to be excellent, starring Robert Downey Jr as Venkman, I'd be happy.

But in the mean time I'm not clamoring for a Ghostbusters 3 or a Ghostbusters remake. Although, as much as I'd liked Ghostbusters 2 to have been better, I don't feel like the franchise needs to be expanded or continued.

I can imagine the remake now. It will probably follow the lead of most other bad idea remakes.

"Tron like" suits that can contain the ghosts instead of ghost traps! They can design the beam right into their hands Iron Man style!

Nah. DDL is too old to be a new Ghostbuster. Replace him with Logan Marshall-Green, say that LMG and TH are brothers, and you're set.

No, don't do that. 30 Min or Less proves he can make a slick piece of shit just as easy as the next guy.

Re: Ivan Reitman May Just Remake Ghostbusters

My problem with a remake is that I don't really care for today's comedy stars compared to those in the 80s, like Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd, John Candy, Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy. Even Chevy Chase had his moments. I realize that many of them are still alive, but they aren't doing those kinds of movies now, and they wouldn't be cast in the leads in this.

Today, they would probably cast the likes of Seth Rogen, Kevin James, or Jonah Hill, and I just wouldn't be interested in seeing it.

I like the Colbert suggestion though.

Re: Ivan Reitman May Just Remake Ghostbusters

If they do a remake, they should have the originals come back...as ghosts!

Seriously, what would be more fitting than if the new ghostbusters had to capture the originals?

I ain't afraid of no ghost...buster!

Last good movie Reitman made was.....? Just let the property die. One great movie, one middling follow-up. It was a great one and done.

Although the animated series in the 80s was tops.

Sony needs a new franchise.

I'd also prefer a reboot vs a part 3. Just start fresh. Not all reboots are pure evil. Snyder's Dawn of the Dead was very solid, as was the '03 Texas Chainsaw Massacre. And more recently, Rise of the POTA and X-Men: FC.

Re: Ivan Reitman May Just Remake Ghostbusters

I can't imagine either a sequel or a remake working well in this franchise.

The original Ghostbusters was a perfect movie but it was lightning in a bottle. You've got Ivan Reitman running wayyy better than usual, and a talented cast in their prime improving their way through an awesome script.

Even Ghostbusters II sufferred while still have a lot of great chemistry amongst the cast.

A remake would immediately gamble on a new cast that could never match the original's. And yeah it would definitely be a cash grab at this point.

Re: Ivan Reitman May Just Remake Ghostbusters

I would be up for a re-boot , but I don't think Ivan Reitman still has the touch to make something that can connect with modern audiences. I would love it if Jason Reitman took a shot, but like someone else said, he has no interest. I think a lot has to do with this most likely being a bigger budget affair and he has said he enjoys the freedom lower budget movies allow. Most likely saw his dad dealing with studios on his projects and learned from it.

My picks for the new cast: Bradley Cooper, Bill Hader, and maybe Seth Rogen. Put Amy Adams in the Sigourney Weaver role, and we're set.

yes and yes.

Bradley is overrated, he doesn't have comedic talent IMO.

my dream cast member would be Jason Sudeikis and throw Chris Parnell in their as well.

Parnell, absolutely. I'd pass on Sudeikis. That dude is about as funny as Bradley Cooper.
