I still have a feeling The Favourite will win Best Picture. I don't seen Green Book or BR winning, although they probably likely scored nominations thanks to the Golden Globes (Green Book was a shoo-in anyway; BR was more borderline).
Christian Bale for Best Actor
Lada Gaga for Best Actress
Bradley Cooper for Best Supporting Actor
Olivia Coleman for Best Supporting Actress
Best Director - Alfonso Cuaron (Roma)

Is A Star is Born the 3rd or 4th remake of that movie really good or is it a weak year in movies?
Leave No Trace, Sorry to Bother You, or Black Klansmann deserve the best picture.

That said I don't think it was a remotely bad year for movies, just a bad year for Oscar Bait. For example Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will be viewed more favorably over time then just about any BP nominee the last year, but extreme genre bias has excluded it from the discussion. Hell even something worthy of a BP nom like Black Panther is only on Oscar radar because it has a lot of baity live action roles, and actors are the largest branch of the academy.

Re: Your Oscar (2019) Predictions Thread
1. I think if Glenn Close gets nominated for Best Actress, then she's a shoe-in to win. She's long overdue and will be given the statue as reparation even if hers wasn't the best performance in the category this year.
2. I really, really want Toni Collette to at least get a Best Actress nomination for Hereditary. She deserves at least that much for such a perfect performance. But I don't think she will even be nominated.
3. I think some blow-back against Bohemian Rhapsody's GG win may cost Rami Malek a win, but he will at least get a nomination.
4. Now that the dust has settled and everyone is realizing Incredibles 2 wasn't really all that incredible, Pixar won't be winning Best Animated Movie this year. It'll go to Spider-Man.

My prediction is that two of the best written, directed and acted films of the year will not receive any nominations.

I want to subscribe to your Oscars! Those were probably the best 3 movies I saw last year.

And while Spike Lee has certainly said a lot of dumb stuff over the years, I don't remember him saying anything racist. Certainly nothing like Mel Gibson ranting about the Jews and "packs of ******s" who still got a best director nomination afterwards.

Blindspotting should be nominated but might be ignored.

I miss the old days when they did the awards in late March
February has too many big event programs like the Super Bowl and Grammys.

I feel Spike Lee has a good chance at being nominated this year for BlackKKlansman, which is a movie I'm sure the Spike Lee of 1989 would be horrified to think he'd make.
