I'm hoping social media is only giving this film attention to make fun of it. '

The funniest one I've seen yet is where Andy from the office is floating in his sumo suit while they're in the boat blindfolded and he says "I'm Andy Bernard from Dunder Mifflin" lol

One thing I didn't understand was the monsters using familiar voices with the kids at the end. When Malkovich's wife comes out of the house early on - she "sees" her mother. So why (or more HOW) did the monsters suddenly become tricksters - trying to get the kids to remove their blindfolds. Other than theat, I enjoyed it

Well, you gotta figure if they can get people to see things then getting them to hear things may not be that difficult. That said, I've heard people suggest that since they were so close to a safe place the things stepped up the attack on them. Who knows...things are left"up to us to figure out or not figure out so...

I think we were finally seeing/hearing what the people who were affected saw/heard. Before that we didn't know how it worked.

It's still a relatively new thing to have an A-lister star in a mass appeal streaming movie, hence the curiosity and high number of views. There was Will Smith in Bright last year and Brad Pitt had that quirky war movie, but I don't think that one was marketed very heavily.

The movie was ok but I expected it to have some kind of a twist ending not just them reaching a sanctuary.

What I didn't understand was why did all the utilities in the house continue to work months after society broke down. Maybe the house was equipped with solar panels but that would seem unlikely considering thwat the one neighbor wanted to block the owners wanting to modernize the home. Also the water was still functioning when the two women went into labor which would have been at least 4 or 5 months after the outbreak, It was inner city so they wouldn't have well water.

Re: Bird Box (2018, D: Bier) S: Bullock, Rhodes, Malkovich, Paulson -- Netflix

I didn't care for this for many of the reasons already mentioned here.

I just couldn't suspend my disbelief for this movie and it just left me with too many questions or unbelievable moments.

Spoiler:
How was it determined that the suicides came from seeing the monsters? Why was it happening? The ride to the store was ridiculous after seeing the destruction that went on before. I also wondered about the utilities as the poster above did. Raising the two babies during this was super far fetched. Why were other people affected differently and they all acted differently in both physical and personal aspects. Why the non-interesting ending? Why was her doctor there? Why can't the monsters go inside buildings? How is the blind school sustaning themselves and all those people? Why, why why....

I enjoy thought probing movies that don't give you all the answers like say, 2001, but this movie gave you nothing. It was hard to be a suspenseful film when you can't swallow any scene of the movie.

While watching it, I thought the ending was going to go this way:
Spoiler:
Bullock actually opened her eyes at some point in the movie, saw the monsters and the entire finding the blind school, securing the kids (maybe even raising the kids), etc. was all a fantasy/dream that the monsters gave her and then she kills herself like everyone else was doing. It did seem like people were seeing fantasies or whatever and we all know how a dream can seem like days or hours and only be minutes in reality. Kind of "Occurrence at Owl Creek Brige."

The book may be good but this movie stunk and I am not understanding why it has had the viral impact it is getting.

Re: Bird Box (2018, D: Bier) S: Bullock, Rhodes, Malkovich, Paulson -- Netflix

A few other things that didn't quite make sense in the logic of this movie. You can't look at these creatures or see them on video, so they wear blindfolds. It was shown in many scenes that the blindfolds would not make the wearer completly blind as light was pentrating the blindflolds multiple times. If they were able to somewhat see through their blindfolds as it appeared they could in the movie, they still should have been affected. Otherwise just wear some sunglasses that completely cover your eyes anf you should be fine. Same thing with covering the car and windows with newspaper. Light and shadow/images will still penetrate through it so it still should affect those as it's not blocking 100% of the view. In multiple scenes at the house you could see they just had blinds pulled down so at certain angles you could still see the outside.

Thwe other thing that didn't make sense; it appeared that the only way the creatures could hrm you is by making you kill yourself. They could not physically open car or house doors, break windows, etc. So even if the monster is right next to you, they shouldn't be able to harm you if you keep your eyes closed. So why do you need to run when the creatures are coming toward you? You should be able to stand there with your eyes closed and you would be fine.

Question:

This movie seems like it would try my patience to sit thru from beginning to end, but I want to skip ahead in the movie to see the critters.
What is a good point to stop the fast-forwarding?

If your goal is to skip ahead to see the critters, don't even bother seeing it. Or just look out your window at nothing....Same difference.

Well obviously if we saw the creature we'd all be dead, and this would just be a sequel to The Ring.

I agree. I think if this had been given a wide theatrical release instead of being 'free' on Netflix. it would be judged much more harshly.

I called that earlier, too. I would say

Spoiler:
that her going on the river was her suicide. I can't recall, was there a scene of her washing up on the shore of the river unconscious and alone? If so, you could cut the movie right there and make this theory the reality of what happened. Much better movie that way.

Dude, don't you know this works in EVERY horror film?

Not sure what you mean by "critters", but there are no monsters to be seen and Sandra Bullock doesn't take her shirt off.

Wasn’t great, but I enjoyed the ride, a bit better than AQP maybe, it’s close.

Re: Bird Box (2018, D: Bier) S: Bullock, Rhodes, Malkovich, Paulson -- Netflix

I enjoyed the movie, even though the last 15 minutes were terrible and, like A Quiet Place, the plot doesn't really hold up under any scrutiny.

I liked the twist that
Spoiler:
the "creature" affected people in different ways. Normal people were driven to suicide, but mentally unbalanced characters saw something beautiful when they looked at the creature and wanted everybody to see it.

Also, thought it was interesting that the biggest douchebag (Malkovich) in the film turned out to be the smartest. If everyone had followed his orders and kicked out that last guy, they would have survived. Instead, by letting that guy stay at the house, the two women and Malk all got killed. Would have been an even worse slaughter if Malk hadn't escaped his holding room and managed to wound the guy.

One thing I did think was stupid though was the fact that after 5 years they were still using shitty blindfolds to cover their eyes. Like, in five years time they couldn't come up with something better than that? Maybe use a modified helmet or cap or hat that would fit more securely on the head. Instead they use a flimsy piece of cloth that can easily come off under duress or is a nuisance if it gets wet. I mean, even dumb people could have come up with something more effective after 5 years. Where's all that American ingenuity?

Regarding your spoiler...
Spoiler:
...was it ever truly established that it was just mentally imbalanced people who saw beauty and would not kill themselves?

And regarding your blindfold statement...I have to admit you are spot on and I feel dumber for not having thought about that after my scrutiny of this very dumb film.

That completely sucks...in both cases.

The entire movie tells the tale of people afraid of monsters that don't exist?
Shit, sounds like America in the year 2019.
