Not many people are saying Bird Box is excellent, it got middling reviews and overall feedback, but it's also something everybody has seen and has an easily spoof-able premise. It's not bad enough that they're outright mocking the movie, but it's more fun seeing creative uses of people in blindfolds than the movie is itself.
The funniest one I've seen yet is where Andy from the office is floating in his sumo suit while they're in the boat blindfolded and he says "I'm Andy Bernard from Dunder Mifflin" lol

One thing I didn't understand was the monsters using familiar voices with the kids at the end. When Malkovich's wife comes out of the house early on - she "sees" her mother. So why (or more HOW) did the monsters suddenly become tricksters - trying to get the kids to remove their blindfolds. Other than theat, I enjoyed it

^ That makes sense.

It's still a relatively new thing to have an A-lister star in a mass appeal streaming movie, hence the curiosity and high number of views. There was Will Smith in Bright last year and Brad Pitt had that quirky war movie, but I don't think that one was marketed very heavily.

The movie was ok but I expected it to have some kind of a twist ending not just them reaching a sanctuary.
What I didn't understand was why did all the utilities in the house continue to work months after society broke down. Maybe the house was equipped with solar panels but that would seem unlikely considering thwat the one neighbor wanted to block the owners wanting to modernize the home. Also the water was still functioning when the two women went into labor which would have been at least 4 or 5 months after the outbreak, It was inner city so they wouldn't have well water.

I didn't care for this for many of the reasons already mentioned here.
I just couldn't suspend my disbelief for this movie and it just left me with too many questions or unbelievable moments.
I enjoy thought probing movies that don't give you all the answers like say, 2001, but this movie gave you nothing. It was hard to be a suspenseful film when you can't swallow any scene of the movie.
While watching it, I thought the ending was going to go this way:
The book may be good but this movie stunk and I am not understanding why it has had the viral impact it is getting.

A few other things that didn't quite make sense in the logic of this movie. You can't look at these creatures or see them on video, so they wear blindfolds. It was shown in many scenes that the blindfolds would not make the wearer completly blind as light was pentrating the blindflolds multiple times. If they were able to somewhat see through their blindfolds as it appeared they could in the movie, they still should have been affected. Otherwise just wear some sunglasses that completely cover your eyes anf you should be fine. Same thing with covering the car and windows with newspaper. Light and shadow/images will still penetrate through it so it still should affect those as it's not blocking 100% of the view. In multiple scenes at the house you could see they just had blinds pulled down so at certain angles you could still see the outside.
Thwe other thing that didn't make sense; it appeared that the only way the creatures could hrm you is by making you kill yourself. They could not physically open car or house doors, break windows, etc. So even if the monster is right next to you, they shouldn't be able to harm you if you keep your eyes closed. So why do you need to run when the creatures are coming toward you? You should be able to stand there with your eyes closed and you would be fine.

Question:
This movie seems like it would try my patience to sit thru from beginning to end, but I want to skip ahead in the movie to see the critters.
What is a good point to stop the fast-forwarding?

If your goal is to skip ahead to see the critters, don't even bother seeing it. Or just look out your window at nothing....Same difference.

Well obviously if we saw the creature we'd all be dead, and this would just be a sequel to The Ring.

Not sure what you mean by "critters", but there are no monsters to be seen and Sandra Bullock doesn't take her shirt off.

I enjoyed the movie, even though the last 15 minutes were terrible and, like A Quiet Place, the plot doesn't really hold up under any scrutiny.
I liked the twist that
One thing I did think was stupid though was the fact that after 5 years they were still using shitty blindfolds to cover their eyes. Like, in five years time they couldn't come up with something better than that? Maybe use a modified helmet or cap or hat that would fit more securely on the head. Instead they use a flimsy piece of cloth that can easily come off under duress or is a nuisance if it gets wet. I mean, even dumb people could have come up with something more effective after 5 years. Where's all that American ingenuity?

And regarding your blindfold statement...I have to admit you are spot on and I feel dumber for not having thought about that after my scrutiny of this very dumb film.

The entire movie tells the tale of people afraid of monsters that don't exist?
Shit, sounds like America in the year 2019.
