In all seriousness, there was a part rumored for Bautista before Gunn was re-hired for Guardians 3, so maybe that role is going to Cena now.

Because it's Hollywood? Also, and this is only a gut feeling, Gunn might be the reason Will Smith had "scheduling conflicts" or whatever PR term they used.

And let's not pretend that industry has qualms with working with people with (to put it lightly) questionable behaviors. Hell, how long did they cover up for an actual sexual abuser and all around scumbag? At least with Gunn it seems to only be bad humor, there would have been victims coming out of the woodwork by now if it were anything more.

Ant-Man actor David Dastmalchian is headed over to the DC universe.

Dastmalchian has closed a deal to star in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, with sources saying he will play the comic book villain Polka-Dot Man.

It seems like it’s more accurate to say “Returns to the DC universe.” He was in The Dark Knight as the crazy guy Harvey Dent threatens in the ambulance.

EXCLUSIVE: ISABELA MONER & DANIELA MELCHIOR TOP SHORTLIST FOR RATCATCHER IN ‘THE SUICIDE SQUAD’

The GWW has learned that Gunn is eyeing Isabela Moner and Daniela Melchior for the role of “Ratcatcher,” a genderbent version of the Batman villain of the same name. There are other actresses in the mix as well that we weren’t able to identify.

Ratcatcher will be “Latina, an idealist, an innocent, a complainer, a warrior for goodness, and a lazy millennial all wrapped into one.” In the comics, Ratcatcher is an exterminator who can communicate with rats and has an affinity for poisonous gas.

Moner, best known for ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ and ‘Instant family,’ is starring in Paramount’s upcoming live-action ‘Dora The Explorer’ movie.

Melchior is known for her role in ‘Praque Mayer.’

Newcomer Daniela Melchior Eyed For Ratcatcher Role in ‘Suicide Squad’ Sequel (EXCLUSIVE)

Newcomer Daniela Melchior looks to be the latest addition to the team, as sources tell Variety the Portuguese actress has been tapped to play Ratcatcher in Warner Bros. and James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad.”

She joins new members John Cena and Idris Elba, with Margot Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn as well as Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang. Variety first reported that the studio decided to have Elba play a brand-new character instead of taking on Deadshot, a character portrayed by Will Smith in the first film.

In the comics, Ratcatcher was originally portrayed as a man who was one of Batman’s many enemies, but sources say the studio is now casting the role as a woman who will have some connection to whomever Elba ends up playing

Warner Bros. had no comment.

Exclusive: James Gunn seems to have found his first villain for ‘The Suicide Squad.’

Benicio Del Toro is in the top choice to play one of the villains of the film, currently under the codename “The Mayor.” Not much is known about the character other than he is an “irascible old warrior who lives for war.” Antonio Banderas is another name that came up for the role at one point.

IDK, he was fantastic in Sicario (haven't seen the sequel yet) and a character like Vandal Savage (if that's who he's playing) is not a comedic person.
