I’m the opposite. I really don’t want to get excited for this. Gunn doesn’t blow me away as much as he does for others here and the stench of the first Suicide Squad still lingers but the two trailers I’ve seen for this look fantastic! So far there’s nothing to complain about for me.

I think it looks like a lot of fun. Looking forward to it. It seems like in a way the hype isn’t quite there for whatever reason.

I predict this will be my favorite DCEU movie.

I thought I was going to see this in theaters but may just do HBO MAX. I mean, the main villain(?) is a giant starfish? Doesn't wow me. Everything else does, so unless the starfish villain is just there for 5 minutes at the beginning then I may reconsider.

Having the same title as the complete did just a few years ago probably isn’t helping.

I also know people love Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn but the character’s presence hasn’t exactly meant box office gold for the previous movies.

The first Suicide Squad movie made $750 million, and I’d say a good portion of the marketing was based around her.

Slither is the only James Gunn film I like. And I thought the first Suicide Squad film was god awful. I’m not expecting much from this. The trailer didn’t do much to sway me either. It looks like a CGI drenched mess.

If the reviews are great I might check it out just because I can see it for free and theatres in Canada just opened last week and I feel like I’ve been deprived.

King Shark is the scene stealer in both trailers...Bird, stay of the comm! Lol. However, Peacemakers quip about the slang meaning of starfish is also a winner. This is shaping up to be the type of film where even if you see/hear all the funny lines in the trailers you will still want to watch the entire film.

King Shark, Peacemaker, and Polka Dot Man have been the standouts in the trailers to me.

Re: The Suicide Squad (2021, W/D: James Gunn) -- News, rumors, etc.

This is nothing like the first one; I think the first one would've been much better off just going with the crazyness instead of playing it as straight as it did, so I think doing so for this movie is perfect.

And it's not only Margot Robbie, but Harley is like a huge character to the point that I'd say without her the movie would lose a lot of appeal/connection to the DC Universe.

I do think it's weird how Idris Elba's character is almost exactly like Will Smith's Deadshot, down to the "daughter is my weakness" thing and "shooting Superman with a Kryptonite Bullet" (I don't think Deadshot ever actually did that in the comics or anything but it's something he would do).

Yeah, this new one seems to be embracing more of the zaniness of the characters and the idea behind the Squad.

James Gunn seems to have a far better handle on how to go about making a Suicide Squad movie and I think this will be a ton of fun.

Yeah Bloodpsort is swapped in with a similar vibe since Smith was out

In the comics..Bloodsport shot Superman with a gun firing kryptonite needles supplied by someone working with Lex Luthor. I see TONS of DC fanboys whining and clutching pearls saying Bloodsport can't do this. I'm like dude, this wasn't something made up for Gunn's film...it happened in the comics back in 1987. They just changed needles to a bullet for the film.

Subliminal marketing? Adding the helmet kinda reminds some of Deadshot without them knowing it?

Plus fucking Starro! (never thought I'd see him in a film) I am all in for this.

Almost forgot about Starro. It’s going to be cool to see that character in live action.

Hopefully the Special Effects for STARRO will be better then it was on the "Powerless" TV series.

Pretty sure I’ll see this in the theater despite the fact that I have HBO Max.

I'm seeing it on the big screen. Already got my ticket booked for the 5th. Gunn shot this in IMAX and I want to see it in that proper format that he intended.

I’m still shocked that people are going despite what is coming back and getting worse. But I digress. Another time, another place. I just think it makes sense again now.

And fuck this support shit. I supported all my life and still contribute to the production companies profits by getting physical or digital media, so I don’t pay $10 per tix, I pay over $20 for there Blu-ray! But, I know it’s the theaters that still suffer. But, I gave a lot. Now, it’s time they gave me. I dunno what that means. I’m fucking high.

Now, it’s just about one thing…

I got tix for the free screening and NSFW Q&A following and I have tix for next Friday at the IMAX screen at Citywalk. Pumped.
