Made me think of an R-rated Beastmaster but your Bravestarr analogy is apt.

Looks like another version of Morbius to me.

Well Sony certainly sure has consistency with these films, this looks dreadful - perhaps marginally better than the others but I have no interest. Seeing Russel Crowe take the paycheck for this made it even worse.

Well... Another cool character just assassinated by Sony. That trailer did nothing for me. How can they keep throwing money away... /smh

re: Kraven the Hunter (2024, D: Chandor) -- S: Taylor-Johnson

Appears the true star of the movie is Taylor-Johnson's abs.

Just looked eh to me. That bite was pretty disgusting which I guess qualifies the red band trailer.

So, this Kraven is a villain but a bad-guy good-guy who kills other villains or something?

I never have understood why they don't just stick to the character stories from the original comics, especially the early versions. Hell, that is the reason the character became popular in the first place.

The early Kraven was just a great hunter who wanted to catch the "uncatchable" prey so he could be the greatest hunter...thus his confrontation with Spider-Man. Plus, his inflated ego is so massive that it makes him an even more interesting character on top of that simple premise. Why fuck with the classics?

And for god's sake...just stop with the animated animals. Or at least use real or practically made ones and animate certain things on top of the real. Seeing animated animals done so poorly always takes me immediately out of the film no matter what I am watching. there are literally people in animal suits in the 60's and 70's that look better, sometimes substantially than the CG shit.

There have been so many amazing films done with real animals and even not so amazing films with amazing animal stunts. I know it is a money/time/pain in the ass thing but goddamn...CG animals almost always look horrible.

Seems like a waste of the character in order to try to launch a new franchise. Would've been cool to see an adaptation of Kraven's Last Hunt with a unique dark and gritty style.

Too bad he couldn't send his voice to the gym. There's no gravitas. His voice from Tenet would even be better.

Red Band Trailer was neat. Looks like a good way to use my Regal Unlimited Pass.

I mean, it can't be worse than Morbius (2022) right?

Bleh.

I thought the trailer looked awful. This just looks boring as fuck. Just another Spiderman movie without Spiderman from Sony. These "villain" movies just don't work without the hero in them. I know the Venom movies seem to make money (God knows why, they're fucking awful), but the character just doesn't work without Spiderman.

I'm not deep into comics so I don't really know or care who Kraven is. The trailer doesn't help. I'm sure I'm not alone. I don't see this movie doing well.

re: Kraven the Hunter (2024, D: Chandor) -- S: Taylor-Johnson

I'll catch it "just because". Likewise, I saw the vampire one and honestly can't remember its name without looking it up.

Venom has been alright. The second was was better than the first. Mostly because of the oddly good chemistry between the two leads.

But I'm not feeling it either. I actually thought it was another dull DCU movie and didn't realize it's a Spiderman offshoot.

Unless there is something I'm missing. That's why I always just watch it and see.

re: Kraven the Hunter (2024, D: Chandor) -- S: Taylor-Johnson

It's wild that Sony keeps making these Spider-Man-adjacent movies WITHOUT Spider-Man. I enjoyed Venom and the sequel, but Venom without Spider-Man is silly. The character is literally a human merged with Spider-Man's alien costume. Morbius is actually better as a standalone, but then Kraven? Kraven's whole deal is that he's Spider-Man's enemy. Without Spider-Man, no one is going to connect with this property at all.

Why do i picture Crowe getting in the “mood” for this movie and The Pope’s Exorcist is just sitting in a trailer with a shit load of empty Chef Boyardee cans, and saying “ yes, thats the accent Im going for”.

Sony's marketing budget for this just ballooned with them pushing this back 10 months.

On the plus side, if the strikes are hopefully over before the end of the year, Sony can promote this heavily at San Diego Comic Con next year.

For the love of God, Sony. Just cancel it. Everyone knows it’s going to bomb. Why even bother?

I can't keep track of all of these C-list superhero movies that are constantly being announced and delayed. Right now I couldn't tell you if Blue Beetle, Morbius, Aquaman 2, Kraven, Shazam 2,or Venom 3 have been released.

They might make bank if they just did a shitty team-up movie of all of these together.

I follow enough to know what has and hasn’t been released. Haven’t seen any of the ones released you mentioned. Watched about forty-five minutes of Morbius before I shut it off.

I really don’t know why Sony keeps on. These offshoot Spider verse movies just aren’t good or are they well received.
