Watched or going to watch an Independence Day type movie?

Re: Watched or going to watch an Independence Day type movie?
I watched SHANE (1953) on the Western Channel. It was either that or YANKEE DOODLE DANDY (1942) on TCM. SHANE has a 4th of July celebration scene, so it's relevant to the holiday. Here's a shot from that scene:
Not my favorite western, but it was a big hit with middlebrow critics when it came out, y'know, the kind that looked down their noses at real westerns (Hawks, Ford, Mann, Boetticher, etc.).

I've been meaning to watch my Jaws Blu-Ray on 7/4 for about four years now. I finally got that accomplished today.

My Independence Day movie traditions are Sleepaway Camp and The Warriors. Obviously, neither has a specific 4th of July reference. Sleepaway Camp just reminds me of the times I spent in summer camp in upstate NY (well, with a few MAJOR differences), and the first time I watched The Warriors was on the 4th about 15 years ago. It does begin and end in Coney Island, where the famous Nathan's hot dog eating contest is held every year, so I guess it kinda qualifies...

Maybe ID4 on Friday once I remove the blu-ray from the shrinkwrap.

Would have been better if this thread was started a week ago and we all could have agreed on which Golden Oldy to watch...

Watched ID4 in 4K. We didn't go to the fireworks this year because the wife got some poison ivy. But I did a little work around the house, saw my sister for her birthday, got a swim, 9 holes of golf and finished up with the movie.

If ID4 is the common choice no wonder there are not so many replies.
I watched it again and forgot how cheesy it was.
Unless you are into war and military movies there is not a lot of choices.
Born on the 4th of July maybe
I think Christmas and Thanksgiving are better movie watching holidays.
