I just watched Avengement (2019). It's currently on Netflix US. I liked it. Not a whole lot of plot, but several good--and very brutal--fight scenes, so pretty much what I was looking for. I noticed that Adkins' co-star from The Debt Collector has a small part in this as a police detective.

It looks like Adkins and White filmed this movie back in January from the post I made Post #58

For a straight to video movie, I'm surprised it's being held until 2024.

In all seriousness, for some reason, I thought he died shortly after the release of Inception. I was really bummed ever since.

He still does a lot of straight to video movies like this one. He also co-starred in one of the recent Sniper sequels.

Sony just dropped the U.S. trailer. On digital January 16. Looks pretty fun.

One More Shot was pretty good. It is a direct continuation of the first.

I hope Sony releases it on Blu-ray, but considering how they have treated some other recent DTV releases, I doubt it. I'll likely have to import it (if it even gets a release at all).

It still blows my mind that a streamer hasn't signed an overall deal with Adkins to produce and star in lower-budget ($30mil or less) action movies. There is no reason the One Shot films couldn't be as popular as Extraction.

I thought it was pretty good action. Plot wasn’t great, as you say.

I just finished One More Shot. Pretty good, pretty good action and fight choreography for one of his DTV movies. I was a little surprised that it was a direct sequel to the first movie. It literally picks up right where the last movie left off. I guess they got a little more money and advertising than the first movie since Destination Films distributed it, who are owned by Sony.

Minor complaint. It sort of ends on a cliffhanger. It didn’t feel like the plot was resolved. I looked at Adkins upcoming projects and there is no sequel in the works yet.

Christmastime for Scott Adkins fans: One More Shot is on Netflix, and also less than five bucks in a Fanflix sale.

I liked One More Shot. As others mentioned, it's a direct continuation of the original, and I had forgotten most of those details, but it didn't take long to get the gist of it.

Although his on-screen time is a bit limited, Scott Adkins was great in The Killer's Game (2024).

He plays a Scottish assassin who's paired up with Drew McIntyre (of WWE fame).

Re: The Scott Adkins appreciation thread

Zaror is awesome. `He's actually in Flight of Fight - he fights Josh Hartnett in the bathroom, I think. He starred in a Chilean film back in 2009 from Magnet Films called Mandrill. It's badass. He's one of the few martial artists out there that has incorporated the "moon kick" into their repertoire. Hell, he and Adkins have similar styles and that same speed and ferociousness.

I had a hankering to watch an Adkins film during the April B-movie challenge but ran out of time. :(

Zaror has done a number of movies with the director of MANDRILL, Ernesto Diaz Espinoza, the latest of which is DIABLO. I haven’t seen MANDRILL yet, but I have seen MIRAGEMAN, KILTRO (both on Magnet DVDs), REDEEMER (on a MPI Blu-ray) and FIST OF THE CONDOR (on Wellgo’s DVD). I didn’t expressly seek any of these out but simply found them cheap at places like Big Lots and Hamilton Book and gradually came to see what Zaror was all about. None of them are particularly memorable but they’re definitely watchable. I find Zaror to be a very limited actor but, as Why So Blu suggests, he really knows his shit and looks solid doing it. His fight scenes do tend to get better and more elaborate in each subsequent film, sometimes within each film to suit the characters’ development. Weirdly FIST OF THE CONDOR, his most recent, was almost unbearably pretentious, so DIABLO looks like a decent return to form. So far, he’s always struck me as the type of one-note martial arts actor with seriously kick-ass martial arts chops who works best when he’s paired with or surrounded production value and performers with more range and charisma (like Atkins), which probably explains a career comprised of leading roles in essentially DTV fare in Chile and smaller supporting roles in DTV and theatrical fare in the U.S. (ALITA, JOHN WICK 4), including two previous Scott Atkins vehicles, UNDISPUTED 3 and SAVAGE DOG.

A lot of Zaror’s movies mentioned above are free on Tubi for those interested in seeing his development, at least as a screen martial artist.

Last night I watched Legacy of Lies (2020). It's on Amazon Prime video, but it says it's leaving in a few days. Adkins plays a former MI6 agent living with his daughter and working as a bouncer and fighting in underground MMA fights. Then his past starts to catch up to him. This one has more of a full plot that some of his movies, but I didn't get pulled into the story much. The girl who plays his daughter does a good job, and I liked their scenes together. There's a few good hand-to-hand fight scenes, so that made it worth the watch.

I watched Take Cover on Hulu. Unfortunately the plot kinda keeps Adkins on the sidelines for much of it, but they figure out ways to have him fight, and those don't disappoint. Some eye-rolling dialogue that one expects in this grade of movie, of course.

Not as good as One More Shot, but I thought it was worth watching and posting about in this thread (which I'm aware is a pretty low bar).

I reviewed the first of his Ninja movies on my TikTok this month and was pretty pleasantly surprised. It was better than Ninja Assassin that was theatrically released the same year. Fun throwback to 80s stuff that actually gets it right
