My son and I are going to see this tonight. I'm trying to make catching at least one movie theatrically a weekly thing for us, and this looks like it could be a good one.

I saw a matinee today and it's good mainly because of David Tennant. Really creepy villain.
There's no gore, no grotesque torture porn. It's mainly a cat and mouse thriller between Tennant and the protagonist (Robert Sheehan). It had some by the numbers predictable thriller elements, but overall it was an entertaining 105 minutes.
I'd give this a B mainly because of the creepy vibe and Tennant.

Dean Devlin was the EP and showrunner for The Librarians on TNT, which lasted 4 seasons.
He's doing well. Plus, he has a new science fiction series airing on The CW this summer.

My son thought it was just okay, but I really enjoyed this one. They did a nice job building the tension up as the movie rolls along. Tennant and Robert Sheehan were both really good. Glad I caught this one before it is out of theaters.

I know he’s been into TV, but movies like Geostorm (the bomb yo!), we’re forgettable. Then again looking at his filmography, he hasn’t directed much. And it shows. I tried to watch Leverage, but it didn’t grab me any.

I thought this was just awful. The script and the acting were abysmal. I don't know how this managed to get a theatrical release. 2.5/5

Re: Bad Samaritan (2018, D: Devlin) S: Tennant, Sheehan, Condon
I felt the set-up and first 30 minutes were effective and got me engaged in the story. Tennant was appropriately sinister early on and Sheehan made for a sympathetic protagonist. Everything after that, from the "naughty" photo being sent to everybody, to the beatings and murders, was relentlessly predictable and not very believable. The FBI angle was totally unnecessary except to provide boring exposition about the bad guy's background (fave line: "Instead of taming horses, he's taming humans.")
As a cat-and-mouse thriller between a less than straight arrow protagonist and an intelligent but psychotic nemesis, this one ranks far, far below stuff like The Silent Partner and even Bad Influence.
The last 15 minutes were unintentional comedy gold, though

I found this surprisingly good
I enjoyed it
I agree the ending was a bit all over the place, but the cat and mouse throughout the movie was cool and i think they did a good job of having a 'what would i do in that situation' feel
