Hitchcock's Frenzy

Watched this on a whim tonight. I think it is an amazingly good film.

I have been on a "plot does not make sense kick" but this was truly masterful in plot and pace.

Has that wonderful 70s realism, organic dialogue and terrific acting.

It is very suspenseful and funny at the same time.

It is also masterfully directed. And very adult for a Hitchcock movie.

One of the better movies I have seen in a while. Sometimes you forget how good movies can be. I had started to think movies were just passing me by, but I guess I just dont like the slick, movie "products" we have today that feel so forced, illogical and artificial.

Great movie.

I haven't seen this since it came out in 1972. I need to revisit it.

The master of suspense goes back to the UK for his last great film, and a twisted one it is.
He even adapts to the times by throwing in some nudity and violence.

Love it.

4.5/5

Unlike Hitchcock's other man falsely accused roles I was not compelled to root much for Blaney, the ex RAF service man. I did enjoy the London setting and Hitchcock touches like the dinners between the chief inspector and his wife, the aspiring gourmet.

This is one that I've never been able to get into. Maybe it was the return to the UK and thus a different style. To me it just feel so different from his 40's/50's/60's work.

It’s supposed to be different. This was a year after A Clockwork Orange. And this is Hitchcock really upping his game and proving he could still make a thriller that was relevant. It’s an amazing film.

Was always one of my favorites of Hitch. Criminally underrated IMO. I haven't revisited it in years, but always remember the tracking shot of an early murder scene that took place in 2nd story apartment as a stand-out. Love the black comedy elements as well.

Yeah, I expected it to be good. But found it really exceptional. The tracking shot was amazing and eerie and really sad. Would never be made today. No one would fund a movie where the more innocent guy was a lowlife scumbad manipulator. But I think it gave the movie part of the magic.
