Hangman (2017, D: Martin) S: Pacino, Urban, Snow

Decorated homicide detective Ray Archer (Al Pacino) partners with criminal profiler Will Ruiney (Karl Urban) to catch one of the city's notoriously vicious serial killers, who is playing a twisted version of the child’s game hangman, while journalist Christi Davies (Brittany Snow) reports on the crime spree, shadowing the detectives.
Watched this one earlier, not bad not good, seemed more like a failed TV pilot. The writing was subpar and editing even worse, especially at the end. Still, as someone who generally likes these crime-mystery movies, didn't regret watching.

Re: Hangman (2017, D: Martin) S: Pacino, Urban, Snow

I did see this a few months ago. It reminded me of one of those late 90's/early 2000's HBO thrillers that would air on Friday nights.

It's very watchable and the cast is decent for what is essentially a straight to video cop thriller. But I can't say it was a good movie. It's just something to pass 90+ minutes. Brittany Snow was mostly a pointless co-star.

TheMovieMan forgot to mention that Sarah Shahi is also in this. She has a small part as Urban's Captain.

Pacino looks like he's sleep walking through this movie.

Spoiler:
It ends on a cliffhanger (Urban's character receives a new hangman note) leaving open for a sequel.

What was Pacino thinking when he signed on for this movie?

Even De Niro would have passed on this one.

IDK, this isn't his first DTV movie (Misconduct, which also co-starred Anthony Hopkins, was even worse).

As for De Niro, he starred in Dirty Grandpa for fuck's sake. Also a DTV movie called Heist which was pretty bad.

Neither Pacino nor De Niro passed on Righteous Kill.

FYI

This is available to watch on Amazon Prime video (no charge)

Just wanted to mention it for anyone who loves Pacino and wants to kill 90 minutes.

Watched this yesterday, I did not think it was too bad. Not a great movie, but not a bad one either.
