The Twitter posts exist. The study found them, and analyzed them. They discovered troll/bots were amplifying the signal, but it was already there before anyone tried exploiting it. Sure, maybe not to the same degree as Ghostbusters, particularly in this forum, but it was there.

So they're looking to "fix" the movie via some visually out of place shots and poor dubbing? I saw a shot of Akbar from ROTJ in there, and what looks like a behind-the-scenes shot of Rey's fight with Luke from a horrible angle. And "there's a spy among us!' sounds like very weak and contrived plotting.

I hated TLJ, but it is what it is. Hopefully the true salvage of the series comes from Ep9. This fanboy retcon stuff is pathetic.

The problem with fan edits is even if they’re good they ultimately don’t matter. I’d be curious to at least watch that to see what it’s like, but I don’t think it’ll change my mind on the film.

This film is still a giant smelly turd but I am hoping Abrams can somehow make it seem not so smelly with his final film of the trilogy.

I loved it, I just don't feel like arguing about it.

A back and forth between both sides, but it’s nowhere close to being 50/50, which is what the point of the post you replied to with a simple “right...” Hyperbole to say everyone, of course, but I don’t think Michael meant everyone in the literal sense of the word, but perhaps I’m wrong.

The majority of the third degree stuff was coming from one person in particular.

It was also implied that true Star Wars fans didn't like TLJ - which is fucking insulting. That's what got my hackles up the most.

Weak arguments came from people who were criticizing The Last Jedi AND those who were defending it.
A couple examples:
-Those who disliked TLJ citing the extremely low "audience" score from Rotten Tomatoes as some sort of proof, which goes completely against the Box Office #s and the critics review score.
-Those who liked TLJ countering criticisms of the film by arguing that it was consistent with the prequels as if those films weren't widely criticized by critics AND fans.
It was also implied that true Star Wars fans didn't like TLJ - which is fucking insulting. That's what got my hackles up the most.

I watched that trailer without sound, and it reaffirmed what I've been saying since opening night: there's a good movie in there, it's just the execution was bad.
