Not sure why they cant just simply make a better GL sequel and call that canon.

Parademons? Did they play a huge part in the movie? Were they identified as "parademons" or some basic drones?

I never saw GL (which is odd because I'm a big Green Lantern fan) but why not just have that part of the canon and change the actor so you don't have to reintroduce the character? Marvel did essentially that with the Hulk, didn't they?

In one of the TV spots, Wonder Woman calls them parademons.

You don’t want that as part of this universe. It’s complete shit on a whole different level. There’s nothing redeemable about it. Marvel kind of did something similar with the Ang Lee Hulk film and The Incredible Hulk. The two films aren’t tied together but The Incredible Hulk basically picks up with the character already established and skipped re-doing the origin.

GL is shit but isn’t so untrue to the character. It’s not like Hal Jordan is particularly complex anyway. The post credit sequence is a slap in the face to all the fans though.

I think introducing the corps in this movie gives them the opening they need to bring in John Stewart (although knowing Hollywood they’ll just recast Hal because heaven forbid a big movie have more than one black hero).

If they do a Corps movie they could just establish Hal and John both. Honestly I think Green Lantern is going to be hard to pull off without being kind of goofy. I mean really the constructs in the film with Reynolds aren’t far off but they just don’t translate to a live action setting very well. Maybe having it be cosmic to start and establish that aspect will help.

Just cast Jon Bernthal (or Holt McCallany) as Guy Gardner and be done with it.

GL was a disaster all around. Martin Campbell was the wrong director, the script was an unfocused, unfinished mess, it was rushed into production, the visual effects were garbage, and the editing was some of the worst I'd ever seen in a $150+ million production. Just terrible.

I never came out of a movie so disappointed and dejected before (or since). Well, maybe after seeing Magnolia...

My apologies if this was already posted but I noticed there are 6pm showings on Thursday instead of the usual 7pm.

Saw that too. Too bad I won’t get to see this with an opening night crowd. My wife and I are seeing it Friday afternoon at a Dolby Cinema but I checked how sold out it is and so far there’s only 7 of us in there.

I totally understand. "Star Dust Memories" was the worst/most disappointing movie I have ever been to, the only movie I have ever walked out on.

Through I was also disappointed with GL (NEVER have a "Cloud Monster/Villain" (Fantastic Four anyone), but I was also incredibly excited to have finally have GL in the theater (hope for better in the future).
-GL was my childhood favorite (Mike Grell's version with Green Arrow).

Sinestro should have been the villian the entire time, DC blew it 100%.

That would have been better than the giant poop monster, but I think instead it should have featured Sinestro as his teacher. Someone way back when, said it could have been like a buddy cop movie, with the hot headed Hal Jordan being trained by a doubtful, and even snobbish Sinestro. Over the course of the film, they become friends, like in the retconned stories.

2nd film has the Oans, finding evidence that Sinestro is the Joseph Stalin of his home planet, and Hal Jordan has to choose his mentor and friend, a fellow Green Lantern, or go with his bosses. Kind of like a cop choosing to side with IA or his partner.

The dude that played Sinestro was completely wasted...

It was stupid to rush Parallax too. They should have played the way it happened in the comics. Not for accuracy, but because it would have made for a great set of films. Finding out that the yellow impurity wasn't some failsafe by the Oans to prevent the GL's from being all-powerful, but that it was evil entity they had captured eons ago.

As unscientific as it is, I've checked the reserve seating charts to see anticipation levels.

Haha, not sure if that was a dig at me, but I was doing the same. I like seeing movies like this with a full house. 7 people in a theater's gonna be like *womp womp*

Geez. a lot of you guys are gun-shy, understandably so. I went in as a Marvel fan-boy, and ended up digging JL.

Oh, boy. A couple of posts really do spoil some good parts. I would say, read at your own peril. I really did not want to go that deep into spoiler territory.

But the reactions are pretty much spot on. Fun, but not perfect. Some like Elfman's score, some did not.

I think you guys will like it more than you are expecting to.
