Morgan Freeman has more range than SLJ....as someone previously mentioned, just watch STREET SMART. I just wish he took more roles like that in his career.

I like them both but I'd say they're about equal for different reasons. Jackson is more known for action often with a comedic edge with the occasional drama whereas Freeman seems more of a dramatic actor with the occasional comedy film sprinkled in. They're both really good actors though I think both are at a point now where they take some questionable roles just for the sake of having work.

I don't think Jackson has much of a range, but he's typically good at what he does. Freeman has greater range, whether or not he decides to use it, and he's typically great at his roles. Jackson has the crankiness and mouth, Freeman has the voice.

I appreciate both of them for what they do, but if they both died tomorrow, I think I would seek out Freeman's roles before Jackson's. I do like more of the movies Jackson is in, but it's not usually because of the man himself.

I think SLJ is more of a pop culture figure while Freeman will leave more of a lasting legacy.

Morgan Freeman was another African American President that Americans wish were back in office...he had a nice role as the Prez in Deep Impact, a fave of mine.

That being said, Samuel L Jackson has had some crackerjack roles that were also just plain fun (I know that he loves the character he played in The Long Kiss Goodnight), and the man is Nick Fury, so he has that going for him.

Freeman by a longshot. He has so much gravitas as an actor, while Jackson does not.

Jackson has also diluted his brand by appearing in so many awful movies. Not saying that Freeman doesn't have a few stinkers on his resume, but Jackson has so much B-movie crap on his.

I wouldn't call more than half of his filmography a few.

Have we gotten to bottom of why these 2 guys? They have such different careers. I really don't get the comparison. Is it bc of color? Why not Denzel and Freeman? Or hell Michael Caine and Freeman.
