Kinda good to see that. I actually did end up watching this at TIFF back in September and likewise didn't find it as terrible as it easily could've been, especially with Cage in full-on gonzo mode. For once, his manic overacting actually fits both the character and the story. The very fact that this was booked into TIFF at all suggested it had something to elevate it above the Cage's usual direct-to-video junk, and it does. I did find it somewhat disappointing how often the film elided the violence perpetrated on the community's kids by their suddenly-crazed parents. I get that there's a fine line with a concept like this, and sometimes it's better to "suggest" than show when you're dealing with brutality toward kids, but I do think they could've pushed the buttons even harder in light of the R rating and the film's excessive run time.

Justifying a crazy Nic Cage performance is good enough reason to watch this. Wish there were more roles for him to go nuts in.

Not a big Nicolas Cage fan, but he does do crazy well. Could be fun as the trailer had me chuckling.

Watched tonite and really enjoyed it.
Smartly written, edited, acted, and directed.
The movie is a ton of fun.

Is there ANY parent out there who hasn't said, at least under their breathe, "I could kill those damn kids?"
This forms the basis of the plot and filmmaker runs with it.
Elements of the movie reminded me in some ways of Snyder's DotD remake and The Purge films.

I have always had a crush on Ms. Blair and she certainly doesn't disappoint here.

The BD is strong in the AV dept. and worthy of a buy.

I've been on a crazy Nic Cage kick lately - why did it take me so long to watch The Wicker Man remake?! - and saw this was on Hulu, so I checked it out last night. It's batshit crazy and utilizes current day Cage perfectly. I had a blast. Only after the fact did I learn that half of the Crank team is responsible for it, which makes total sense.

BTW I really like the glitchy electronic score. I'm going to listen to it tonight on Spotify and see if it stands on its own.

To me it seemed like a movie with the entire third act missing. Would like to say I enjoyed it. I guess I did up until the end. But I left disappointed.

Wail 'til you see COLOR OUT OF SPACE: Cage, Richard Stanley, H.P. Lovecraft. Saw it at TIFF. Potent stuff, mostly.
