So I watched a movie today called Correspondence which stars Jeremy Irons and Olga Kuryenko who, outside of a couple side characters, carry 100% of the film (Kuryenko is in every scene in fact and nearly every shot I think save a few).

Another example is Lost in Translation.

So, I'm wondering, what other movies with only two characters are out there?

The Before Trilogy. Act 1 of Before Midnight has six other characters, but the rest of the movie, and the first two movies is pretty much all Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy.

But lots of films based on plays would probably fit.

Knife in the Water has only three characters, a married couple and a sexy young interloper.

I've never seen Misery. Is there anyone other than the two leads?

Tape has 3 characters, and I think it all takes place in one room.

First that came to mind was the original Sleuth.. But recently, All Is Lost.. Only Robert Redford from start to end.. Great movie.

Enemy Mine

The Station Agent, just 3, 4 including girl, but pretty intimate and fantastic.

Tom Noonan directed a movie years ago called What Happened Was... about two people having a dinner date, the whole thing takes place in his apartment over the course of the evening.

Whoopi Goldberg is the sole person on-screen for 99% of The Telephone, though there is a repairman who shows up for a pivotal scene.

A saw a movie years ago called A Pure Formality starring Gerard Depardeau (sp) and Roman Polanski, where I recall the whole movie being a long interrogation during a rainy night (there's a few other officers at the station though).

That's a good film by the same guy who made Cinema Paradiso.

Funny enough, Giuseppe Tornatore also directed Correspondence as well.

They were the first movies I thought of when I saw the thread's title.

Many films adapted from the stage tend to fit this category.

It's been a while since I have watched either, but as I recall, Nothing and Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...and Spring (both from 2003) fit the bill. I have fond memories of the latter, but not the former.

Buried. Aside from one video watched from.a cell phone, the whole movie was just Ryan Reynolds lying in a very small box. These is only occasional voices you hear from the cell phone he iusing
