Well, I saw this with the wife tonight, even though we have not seen the first film. Experience was quite similar to when I saw John Wick 2 in theaters without seeing the original film first — I was entertained and could mostly follow what was going on, but was thrown by some of the unusual and odd world-building elements established in the first film and presented here without explanation. Film was especially fun when Affleck and Bernthal share the screen - they’re great together. Other things seem overly complicated (the hacking scene was particularly weird - they have to access her open laptop while she is distracted to view her photo? Why not just hack her phone or look at her Facebook page where maybe she posted it?). The final act was odd, and come on : You make the central tension ‘will he bad white American assassins kill like 100 Latin American kids in a mass open grave before the hero can stop them? And I had to chuckle at how the main assassin holds up the school bus to go find the one kid who hung back and hid, and then slowly coaxes him onto the bus (during a shoot-out) so he can drive him to a different site so he can shoot him there?
It was fine. A fun night at the movies. But totally disposable and forgettable.

Wife wanted to go see some movie last night. I wanted to see Sinners for a second time, but she's really horror-aversed and refiused. I said "We could see The Accountant 2, but we never saw the first". She said "How complicated could the story be? I think we will catch up". So I went along with it.

Probably owns it on Vudu too. I rewatched the first movie before seeing this one, but watched it from HBO Max instead of my 4K Atmos Vudu digital copy which I realized later that I owned, so I was a little bummed about that.

Sure do! 😅
If I was planning on watching the sequel at the movies, I would have watched the original first. But this was a 6:30 decision about a 7:30 movie.

Dug this one, although I thought the team of autistic kid hackers was a little much. I don't know if I'm sold or not yet on the female assassin, for similar reasons. I think "way more people than you realize have autism" is not at all a bad theme to have in your movie (especially in light of recent politicians' statements), but when they're ALL involved in the criminal underworld, it's a little hyper-specific to the point of losing the message. It does almost feel like they're going into John Wick territory of worldbuilding. I recently sort of worked out through opinions of my parents, my wife, and a clinical psychopathologist that I likely have some form of autism, and I won't say I find any depictions offensive, it's just kind of an odd route to take.
I DEFINITELY feel like some elements of Affleck's Batman script were used in this. Or at least Affleck may have suggested sequences he had wanted to do as Batman. The motorcycle "time running out" scene is almost identical to something in Identity Crisis (and other movies, I'm sure), the final gunfight is reminiscent of the "Knightmare", the hacker team providing real-time mapping and logistics similarly to what Alfred did in BvS... Hell, the antagonist assassin is basically Taskmaster in place of Deathstroke. If the next villain is like, a pharmaceutical company that developed drugs for the military and Ben Affleck fights a drugged up supersoldier, we'll know for sure, I guess haha. Not that I mind any of it.

I've only seen John Wick 4 because I wanted a nice night out at the movies.I'm likely to see The Accountant 2 without seeing the first, too.
In fact, I'm planning to watch all the John Wick movies in reverse order. I'll do the same with the Bad Boys movies, all of which I've never seen.

Saw this over the weekend, and my wife and I both loved it. I was worried it would be a letdown after the first movie, but it wasn't. It was different, focusing more on the relationship between the brothers, but that's what made it work.
While this isn't the kind of movie you see for the realism, I did find that
It was still a lot of fun.

Wow, did I not like this movie. It was way too long and it’s not till 1:45 into the movie is a few minutes of action. Affleck played to his autism way too much and this emotion and feeling. Got to say didn’t click with me at all. It’s Ike the Temple of Doom in what I’m assuming they’ll make at least one more.

I just finished watching it and enjoyed it a great deal. I thought there was just enough action. Not every movie needs to be nonstop action. The first film certainly wasn't. The chemistry between Affleck and Bernthal is what made the movie for me.

A 3 out of 5 stars movie.
Bernthal saved it from being a complete mess and he stole the movie.
If they make another one ditch Affleck and cast Bernthal as the lead.

i like Affleck in most things he does or directs, but Jon Bernthal is my new man crush so I'm all for his own spin-off or something.

Watched it last night. It was ok. I remember liking the first more.
The biggest stretch in this movie was that a central American woman could turn into an Asian assassin.

She had Amnesia and trained herself into being an assassin. Nowhere did they indicate that she magically turned Asian
Other than the wig or dyed hair, she still looked Hispanic.

She looked Asian to me. Almost mixed Asian. she looked nothing like a Hispanic woman to me (I see a lot of Hispanic women). Maybe it is her make-up. Maybe her eyes. I don't know but I see Asian there, even if that isn't what she is.

Who cares what her race is and does it matter?

Re: The Accountant 2 (2025, D: O'Connor) S: Ben Affleck
In all fairness, it does seem confusing if you assume a Hispanic woman was made Asian via plastic surgery. However, that was not the case. It's not that Deftones was criticizing the casting of a Mexican American actress in the role. It's simply that he (and EEz28) assumed that an Asian woman was cast for the post-surgery portion of the character's appearance and thought it was weird. Personally, I recognized Daniella Pineda as Anaïs and Edith Sanchez (the latter requiring the actress to wear prosthetics to make her face chunky) and have never found her looking Asian in any way, but clearly others did. No harm, no foul.
