I’m inclined to think we’ll see something along the lines of what Paul_SD said earlier. Circe will play mind games with her or something by creating an illusion of Steve somehow. I don’t think they’d be dumb enough to do something as silly as bringing him back for real or a junior version of the character.

Its not even about throwing stuff out from those films, its about making sense of Steve returning. I just hope its not some hokey (
) explanation. Especially when you consider his death has served as a big motivator for her being a hero and showed her the good in humanity. It would kinda make his death less important which I think would be a mistake.

'Insecure' Star Natasha Rothwell Joins 'Wonder Woman' Sequel
The writer and actor joins fellow franchise newcomers Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal.
Insecure star Natasha Rothwell is joining Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman sequel.
The actress joins fellow franchise newcomers Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal and returning stars Gal Gadot and Chris Pine.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, it is known that the pic, which is currently in production, is set in the 1980s and will see Diana (Gadot) facing off against a new villain, Cheetah, played by Wiig.
Pine, Jenkins and Gadot were on hand at this year's San Diego Comic-Con to debut footage from the follow-up that saw Wonder Woman in a mall food court dealing with two bad guys.
Rothwell, who also serves as a writer on Issa Rae's HBO series Insecure and previously wrote for Saturday Night Live, was recently seen in Fox 2000's Love, Simon.
