Shouldn't Idris Elba be bigger?

I mean hopefully The Dark Tower makes him a bigger name. But, he is so good in everything, from his start on cable to movies. But, I think he should be bigger than he is. He's popular don't get me wrong, but not huge. There aren't a lot of younger African-American actors breaking out. Females, yes, but no one coming up in male. I mean he's not that young, but someone needs to be next Denzel. He is still great, but can't take the younger parts anymore.

What do you think?

He's 6 foot something. That's big enough.

Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jeffrey Wright, Don Cheadle, Anthony Mackie & David Oyelowo would like to have a word with you.

Yeah, Ejifor is there, but the rest couldn't sell a movie alone...

I'm sure his dick is huge already. I wouldn't want it bigger.

That's not what I meant. I meant that those 5 actors are in the same boat. All have done some great work, but they just aren't that famous.

Poor Terrence Howard didn't even make your also-ran list.

Stupidest move leaving MCU. He was good movie actor before that. Four Brothers, Hustle and Flow, etc... That killed movie career and now relegated to popular Empire tv series.

I don't think I've seen him hang brain, but I'm sure he's sufficiently big.

Having an odd name doesn't help.

Anthony Mackie doesn't belong on this list. His acting isnt anywhere near close to the others.

He'd be perfect as James Bond. Cast him and he'll finally be a bigger name.

I first came across him in Ultraviolet, a British miniseries about vampires that was kind of a mix of X-Files and Blade. I have it on DVD---pretty cool and worth seeking out if you haven't seen it.

He's 44 years old.

Daniel Craig is 49 now, and was 38 when Casino Royale was released.

There is hope though. Roger Moore was 45 when he first played Bond.

Is Craig gonna play Bond anymore? I haven't kept up with Bond news.

Has Idris even been considered for Bond? Or is that an internet rumor that snowballed?

That's just the PC crowd who want to cast him just to cast a black man. Prior to Elba it was Colin Salmon who was the black man who was championed to take over as Bond only because he was tall, black, and charming. They're both good actors, but it's a ludicrous idea 65 years into the James Bond universe.

As to Elba himself, he's a very good actor, but he hasn't done anything to earn all that much name recognition. He's an above average actor, talent-wise, but he's not head and shoulders above the pack warranting superstar status.

I think 44 is fine... he can play the role in 2 or 3 films.
Craig was 47 in his last Bond flick and age wasn't a problem.

I'm not a huge Bond nut, but I don't like the idea of someone in their 20's playing the role. I can't buy someone that young as being as mature, classy and sure of himself as I could someone in their late 30's or older.

I don't care if Bond is played by a white or black guy, Elba has the good looks, size, acting chops and charm/class to pull it off.
