Why was Tarantino uncredited for and how awesome was Crimson Tide?
i see in some articles online that he only punched up the dialogue, but why wouldn't you get credit for even that?
and how awesome is this move? i mean Denzel and Hackman, so tense. i couldn't believe i didn't have it on any medium. rectified that quickly. definitely a time in 90's that we would never see anymore. just raw, no frills, pure acting, some posturing, practical effects, Zimmer score, Tony Scott goodness. those were 90's quasi-classics and sometimes go unremembered...

A lot of people punch up dialogue for movies and don't get credit for it. Probably so many that it's difficult to keep track for the credits. I'd also imagine there's some sort of writer's guild/union rules regarding it.
I enjoy Crimson Tide but can't say I love it. If I were to pick a 90s Tarantino/Scott flick it would be True Romance. Now that's a movie I freaking love!

There are pretty strict rules when it comes to script credits thanks to the WGA. You have to have written a minimum 33% - 50% of the screenplay to get a "Screenplay by" credit.

Good flick, somewhere between the first two poll options. Haven't seen it in many years, though.

I should probably revisit the movie sometime. When I saw it in the theater, I noticed a major violation of the 2-person control rule regarding "special" weapons. Very few movie-goers would've noticed unless one is familiar with those procedures. But it took me completely out of the movie and kinda bugged me for the rest of the movie. That was a while ago and maybe, nowadays, it won't bug me so much. Yeah, I know you need dramatic license with movies.

Been a while since I saw this movie, but I know it holds up well. I remember seeing it opening night back in 1995, about a week before my last day ever of high school. Interesting because it was technically a summer movie but it opened two weeks before Memorial Day weekend, which was typically the launchpad weekend for the summer movie season. Tide may have actually started the trend of summer movies starting in early May instead of late. Summer of '96 had Twister on the same Weekend, then Fifth Element the following year, then Deep Impact, and the rest is history.

I really wish the was behind-the-scenes footage of when Tarantino visited the Crimson Tide set and Denzel Washington started chewing him out for his "racist" movie dialogue.

Never saw CRIMSON TIDE. I get it confused with THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER.

Haven't seen it in over 20 years. I remember it being decent but not even close to Scott's best which are True Romance & The Hunger.

I remember getting the Blu-ray from my parents after it came out and I gave the old DVD to them because I know my father liked those movies. Very tense, Hackman was spot on. Probably have only seen it once since receiving it because that's what I do with most of them.

I remember it being okay, but haven't seen it since I rented it on video shortly after it came out. Great example of a movie I probably need to revisit at some point.
