Possibly one of the worst films I have ever seen.

It's not personal though, RIP Mr. Demme.

He directed this awesome video, too:

I feel the same on both points. My favorite film of his by far was Something Wild. He was a good director with a nice range.

RIP

Very sad. Great director. Considering what happened to brother, Ted, family must be in serious distress. Rip to 2 great directors.

Re: RIP Jonathan Demme

Ted Demme was a mediocre director, at best. Blow was maybe his best film and even that was barely a shade above passable. He was easily the lesser-talented brother of the two.

RIP Jonathan Demme. I hope he's up there reunited with his Grandpa Ted now.

Re: RIP Jonathan Demme

I loved Silence of the Lambs. But I can't say I was a huge fan of Demme's work.

I noticed in the last 10+ years, he hasn't really directed any high profile movies. Mostly TV and some documentaries.

Kind of ironic that his last work (tonight's episode of Shots Fired on FOX) is airing tonight on the day of his death. He must have been sick during film. I believe it was filmed last Fall.

I remember reading he directed Philadelphia in part because he gotta a lot of flack from the gay community after his direction in the portrayal of Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs. This was his way of saying to them that he was Pro-Gay and he was portraying Buffalo Bill straight from the book, not on his prejudices.

Didn't Ted Demme die like 15 years ago? I mean it's always sad when a family loses a loved one, but it's not like two family members dying 15 years apart is some great American tragedy.

Yeah but when it's two siblings, that's gotta sting.

One more time, Ted Demme was the son of Jonathan Demme's brother Fred. He was Jonathan's nephew.

Tony Scott was Ridley's son and cousin to Ted, who was the grandfather of Jonathan.

That family must be in serious misery, especially after the release of the latest Alien trailer.

At this point it's clear people are joking. Although I guess it's not clear to you.
