Trying to find a movie.
My Mom wants to find a movie she saw in the 70s or early 80s.
All she can remember is people lived underground and were told they would burn up in the sun.
The hero from the surface falls in love with a girl down there and begs her to come up with him, she can't because she'll burn up.
The girl's father eventually tells her she was found as a baby and isn't really one of them, so she goes with the hero.
She looks at the sun (doesn't burn up) but walks right off a cliff while admiring it - THE END.
Any one know what this is?

Was it an older b&w movie? Sounds a lot like The Mole People(1956). A group of three geologists or archeologists discover an underground city in the mountains of Tibet. The inhabitants of the city have been there so long their skin no longer has any melatonin and they are very pale looking. Exposure to the sun makes them burn up. They worship the sun and sacrifice people to it by putting them in a chamber and opening the roof to let the sun in.
There is one girl who is different, looks normal. She and the hero fall in love. The city is threatened by series of earthquakes. The scientists and the girl escape to the surface. There is an aftershock. The girl is too busy admiring the sun and a stone idol falls on her killing her.

Fun fact. According to the lead actress, they originally shot a typical "guy gets girl and they live happily ever after" ending. But studio execs called them back to reshoot the downbeat ending because it was feared the film would be seen as promoting interracial relationships.

I downloaded The Mole People we watched it and she says it's NOT it.
She says it was in color and the girl fell off the cliff.
