Saw this tonight and enjoyed it. Getting a little tired of superhero movies but they changed this up just enough to make it different. So glad there was no Magneto to be good, then bad, then good again.

Re: Logan (Mangold, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

I finally saw this and I have to say I was massively disappointed.

After the hype, I was hoping that "Logan" wasn't just going to be one of those re-imaged "grittier movies" with more violence, little plot, and all the characters being completely miserable for the whole movie - and all done with a desaturated look and some shakycam thrown-in here and there. But that's exactly what it turned out to be.

I know I'm going against the majority opinion, but for me movies like this just aren't that entertaining to watch, nor are they as meaningful as they want to be. And I'll take a movie that's fun-and-shallow any day over one that's drab-and-shallow like this. (So for 2017, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" >>>> "Logan" IMO)

And it seemed like the filmmakers used "Children of Men" as the stripped-down template for this because the overall plots are similiar. (I was calling it "Children of Logan" instead of "Logan's Run" as I've seen others dub it.)

Do I think it's the worst X-Men movie? No. But it's not the best one either.

How did Logan get back the adimantium to his claws? They were ripped apart in The Wolverine which predates by a lot since Logan is 2029, and I’m sure he wouldn’t have the adamantium grafted back on. So just error in continuity?

Bryan Singer explained that Magneto grafted the metal back on at some point between The Wolverine and Days of Future Past.

Because they were at war with the sentinels and it probably helped?

I’m just saying the Wolverine always hated the metal and his origins, at least that’s what movies have you believe. He hated experiment and Stryker with a passion. Just doesn’t tell me he would willing do it again.

He still had his metal skeleton. It was just the claws that got snapped off. Can't imagine it was that much of an ordeal. Besides, the bone claws suck.

Amen. I'm REALLY hoping those claws will be a thing of the (Distant) past once the MCU gets it's hands on Wolvie.

I don’t get what people have against the bone claws being a part of his original mutation. But to answer OldBoy, at this point it should be easy enough to write off anything that doesn’t match earlier movies as variants in a similar universe. I’m taking my son through these movies this summer (we just finished The Last Stand, and moving to The First Class next), and there’s just too many continuity errors to try to make it all fit into a single universe.

You're skipping over X-Men Origins: Wolverine?

But then the references in Deadpool about Origins (as well as Green Lantern) don't hit as well.
