Can you explain why the pool sequence didn't make sense to you?

The one scene that stuck out to me that didn't make much sense was when It took the body of the father & it was standing on top of a house in it's underwear as they were driving away.
It didnt make sense to me why It climbed to the top of a house.

I liked The VVitch much more than this movie but YMMV.

The vulnerability to bullets seemed extremely out of place to me. It felt like it didn't play by its own internal logic in that scene.

I plan on watching It Comes At Night tonight, my expectations are in check.

I watched this last night, and in the end, despite good execution and strong performances, it boils down to "Boredom Comes at Night". Ok, perhaps a little harsh, so I shall call it "Not Much Goes Anywhere Very Slowly at Night".

After googling "Best horror films of 2016/2017", pretty much everything I've watched so far from those lists has been just meh or poop, except for "Get Out" and "Don't Breathe". Heck even (B series) "The Shallows" was better than stuff like "Split", "Hush", and "The Devil's Candy". Already seen "It Follows".

Next up: Probably "The Witch" and "Raw".

I watched this last night and this is, personally, what I liked best about the movie. The characters didn't know the answers to the questions that were left hanging so neither did we. I think that's what made this great because it helped convey the paranoia these people were feeling.

I didn't like this as much as the Witch but I did like the ending more.

I wouldn't even go so far as saying it was executed very well either. Your statement summarizes it pretty good. I didn't like it at all and it is easy to see why this bombed and did poorly.

That's exactly why I hate movies like this - the director and co. use shit like that as a cop-out for needing to create better structure in their film - how great would it have been if the son, when he woke up seeing all of the black blood and wounds turned out to be doing the bad deeds the entire time? they could have capitalized on that move in my opinion - they could have tied up so much that happened previously in the flick as well as have some nice surprises (if you were paying attention, you know what I'm talking about).

Also, sleepwalking was the main way this virus was transferred ("It comes at night") - the girlfriend was in the kitchen late at night because of sleepwalking and I believe when she spit up the black goo into the dudes mouth...that was real. I believe they freaked out and wanted to leave because the girlfriend knew she was now infected along with her son who was infected and sleepwalking as well and they just wanted to leave.

If you notice in the fight at the end, the mother's (of the original family) eyes are already black, she was infected - the ending shot of the two of them was just both of them waiting to die.

I get what they were doing with this flick but there just wasn't enough substance.

See, and I'm surprised that you even picked up on any of that, because I sure as hell didn't. It just seemed to be abstract and chaotic just for the sake of being abstract and chaotic.

We redbox'd this yesterday and I came away with a RIDLEY SCOTT feeling. Gorgeous atmosphere, beautifully shot, score/music(or lack thereof) was well done...but the ending and unanswered questions annoyed me the more I thought about them. I went to Youtube to have someone explain some things and one person said the Director intentionally "cut out all the answers" in this film. Ok..

Don't blame ya for not catching any of it, at the least, you were probably bored and just didn't care to look into anything.

Did you see the youtube video earlier in here where the speaker mentions ASPECT RATIOS changing for dream sequences? Now I'm trying to remember if the AR was different during the Goo Mouth scene between the girl and boy...

No I did not - Interesting though - looks like a lot of people caught what I mentioned in my main post as well as I've seen a bunch of you tube videos mentioning the same stuff.

Again, that's all cool and all but I just so wish there was more to bite onto with this flick.

It Comes at Night...this was a tense, creepy fucking movie. Great sense of paranoia. Well played. Love everything Edgerton is in.

Spoiler:
So they killed their son at end, right?

Finally saw this tonight and loved it. Like many said before, the pacing reminded me of "The Witch". I'm a fan of that movie too. This is not a mainstream film at all. So I get why it wasn't a box-office hit. But a CinemaScore "D" rating is a bit harsh and so undeserving. If you found it to be too slow for your taste, fine. That doesn't make it a bad film. It's extremely well made with terrific performances IMO. Could end up on my top 10 of 2017.

It's a manipulative and meandering mess. That's what makes it a bad movie.

Meandering I'll give you. But how exactly is it manipulative?
