Aftermath (2017) -- S: Arnold Schwarzenegger

Two strangers’ lives become inextricably bound together after a devastating plane crash. Inspired by actual events, AFTERMATH tells a story of guilt and revenge after an air traffic controller’s (Scoot McNairy) error causes the death of a construction foreman’s (Arnold Schwarzenegger) wife and daughter.

The film features Arnold Schwarzenegger (Terminator Genisys, The Expendables 3), Scoot McNairy (Our Brand Is Crisis, 12 Years A Slave), and Maggie Grace (The Taken Series, Lockout).

Arnold just posted this trailer on his Facebook page.

Guess this is headed to on demand/straight to video.

Looks very melodramatic.

Comes out April 7th.

I came to post this trailer. It's based on a true story.

Will watch anything with Schwarzenegger.

Still waiting for them to expand the Jingle All the Way-verse.

Yeah, looks good. I think this is produced Darren Aronofsky, right? It was originally called number of the airplane, I think.

I saw that it said Lionsgate Premiere, so I reckon it will play in 2 theaters and get a VOD release at the same time. I still want to see it, though.

Finally the badass mano a mano battle we've been waiting for since the 80s, Schwarzenegger vs. Scoot McNairy!

Eat your heart out, Stallone!

You know, I'm really liking the direction Arnold is taking his career recently. The Zombie is my daughter movie and this one look really good.

I will give him a pass on the Apprentice.

This was written by Javier Gullon. He wrote Enemy and Hierro. I have both of those and they are excellent.

Available on demand as of yesterday.

I went ahead and rented it off XBox Video. $7 HD rental. Will try to watch it either tonight or tomorrow.

Only 93 minutes, so it's relatively short.

For that price I'd rather just buy the Blu-ray honestly.

$7 is fine. I don't need to own every fricking movie that I sort of want to see just because of price point differential between disc and on demand rentals. You got to get that mentality out of your head that for only "$4-5 more" I can own the disc forever even though I'll never watch it again after 1 viewing. That's how you become a hoarder.

It's currently not on disc and It's only a few bucks less than seeing a matinee here in Los Angeles. I look at this is being able to see it and not having to drive to the theater.

No disc release date yet.

Arnold's last limited release title fell into this as well. Got a limited theatrical/on demand release before the disc came out. I rented it for like $5-6 and was fine with that. It was definitely not something I wanted to own.

June 6th is the release date for Aftermath on BD. Amazon has not listed it on their site yet -- only for rent.

I need to adopt that attitude and am getting closer. I recently dropped way too much money over the last year on cult/B movies and now have a closet full but no fucking time to watch them. I get suckered into the "only 1000 printed!" bullshit. But to be fair, most of those either aren't streaming or if they are for rental they are cut or in the wrong aspect ratio.

Sorry about the detour. Carry on.

Re: Aftermath (2017) -- S: Arnold Schwarzenegger

Just watched this tonight and it was pretty fucking good. It's definitely a slow-burner and with the bullshit with the airlines this week - will possibly rub people the wrong way. The tone of the film reminded me of 21 Grams. It will most like get honorable mention on my top films of 2017 list. Arnold was great and I think this is the most vulnerable he's ever been in a film. It's worth a rental if you can't wait until June for the BD.

Re: Aftermath (2017) -- S: Arnold Schwarzenegger

Just watched this tonight. It's a very different Arnold movie. Much darker and depressing.

It's probably IMO one of his best performances as an actor.

Arnold just plays an everyday man who's life is turned upside down after the death of his wife and daughter in a catastrophic plane crash (2 planes collided)

It's actually told from 2 different perspectives. Arnold who is looking for answers and the Air traffic controller who's life is also turned upside down and struggles coming to terms with his involvement in the accident. Eventually the two cross paths and it's a pretty dark resolution.

This is not a happy movie. Definitely slow burn character-driven movie. Only available via digital rental right now. But, if you can rent the DVD/BD in June, I would recommend it. It's a very different Arnold movie.

Re: Aftermath (2017) -- S: Arnold Schwarzenegger

Been awhile I haven't seen a movie and felt surprised and said "oh shit!"

Good movie. It's a miserable movie all throughout but the energy is felt.

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Re: Aftermath (2017) -- S: Arnold Schwarzenegger

Not bad at all. Thought a few parts didn't quite connect for me but all in all, a well done film that excels with Schwarzenegger and McNary, both giving great performances. And yes, that ending was surprising.
