More about Carrie obviously, but with a lot of talk about her mom, the HBO stand-up special/documentary Wishful Drinking is quite good.

They had a private service today. Carrie wanted to be cremated. Some of her ashes were placed in her mom's casket. The rest were placed in a giant Prozac pill she had been keeping. Her brother and daughter both thought she would've loved it.

They played an old Oprah show from 2011 with Carrie Fisher/Debbie Reynolds and it's amazing how candid they were about their lives and their relationship with each other. It's a stark contrast to every actor today who is so phony in every talk show interview.
Of course the biggest story of Reynolds personal life was Eddie Fisher leaving her for Liz Taylor (I didn't realize they were all best friends until Taylor's 1st husband died, and then Fisher moved in.) But Reynolds 2nd husband gambled all her money away and left them broke.
Carrie Fisher and Reynolds said they pretty much didn't talk for 10 years as that is when Carrie was turning to drugs after the success of Star Wars. It was interesting when Debbie Reynolds said it was tough in one way because she was a big time movie star in her day (Singin in the Rain, Academy Award Nominee, etc), but will always be known as Princess Leia's mom.

It was a joke about the picture ... The responses had me wondering if he was really there!
The pictures of her brother that I have recently seen must have been OLD pictures.

ya know, if my sister and mom die within a day of each other I'm now thinking about a deep V-neck for the funeral.

she was a really unique, troubled, talented soul.
selfishly, just wish she lasted long enough to finish the ST.

Damn.
Heroin, cocaine & X in her system? Surprised she lasted as long as she did. That's really too bad. At least she got to do a couple more Star Wars films.

It's too sad that she had relapsed. Had she been clean for awhile? I imagine she must have undergone testing while making the latest SW movies for insurance purposes.

SW is probably what helped kill her.
Given her personality, the stress of getting back in front of the camera and suffering the withering criticism about her appearance, and knowing she was committed to endure two more films...I can understand why she'd fall back into a comfortable hole.

By her account, yes... but it's not like she would publicly admit to having relapsed again. I remember reading a tabloid report from 2014 where she was confronted about making repeated visits to a shady apartment building (presumably to score), but I hoped that wasn't true.

That surprises me. But I honestly don't know much about her.
Either way, rock on. Drugs don't interest me. But I hope people who do use them have a good time.

Her brother said some of those were prescribed for her...but even giving the benefit of the doubt...it's still a complete mess. I read that Opioid deaths in the U.S. totaled near 60k last year...nearly double gun deaths.
