Same thing with The Fighter. The top notch acting by Christian Bale, Melissa Leo and to a lesser degree Amy Adams and Mark Wahlberg almost redeem its conventional story.

I recently watched the remake of Point Break where Ramirez provided some of the most godawful acting I've seen in a mainstream movie in quite a few years. I'm not sure I trust him in another movie at the moment, i still haven't washed the bad taste out yet.

Above average. What kept it refreshing was that the fight scenes were all under 5 minutes. Keeping room for more story & character. And for awhile there, this almost looked like it was all from Ray Arcel's (De Niro) POV.
If anything, this deserves to be seen on the big screen for Ana De Armas
Btw, I never knew Duran was half Mexican!

Not too bad but a bit on the forgettable side. I did like that De Niro wasn't phoning it in and yes, Ana de Armas continues to impress following Knock Knock and even the awful Exposed (but she was good in a mess of a "movie").

I liked it and thought it was one of the better sports movies in a while.
Usher was kind of cheesy but I loved Ray Arcel and wish De Niro would do more movies like this instead of Dirty Grandpa.
I thought maybe Duran's fights with Hearns and Hagler would be covered but the way those fights turned out maybe they left them out on purpose.
