Nope, I'm talking about actors who ask and get things like this to coddle their massive egos. It's a shame movie studios give in to their demands. I'm not saying he got this for SS, but he has the reputation for being a diva.

Why don't you go into your job tomorrow and request a 10% pay decrease. Tell them you don't need your ego coddled.

Will Smith is long past that. He could lose 90% of his income and still get by just fine (hell, he wouldn't even need to work again in his life and he could still live VERY comfortably on just 10% of what he's gotten paid).

Most of us need that 10% just to survive on a daily basis.

It's crazy how much hate this movie is getting from critics and the media, while they seemed to go real easy on this summer's horrible Ghostbusters.

Yeah, I have no doubt that SS is better than Ghostbusters 2016. GB16 got treated with kid gloves, while SS has every flaw noted.

Suicide Squad is part of a larger whole. It is inextricably connected to Batman vs Superman, and the strengths and flaws of that movie. While Man of Steel also exists, SS and BvS are basically the foundational pieces of a (planned) cinematic universe.
If someone builds a house with architectural flaws, as long as it does not collapse, then those flaws can be tolerated.
If someone lays the foundation for a skyscraper and starts building the first floor, and there are flaws, it is a much greater problem because you can foresee the possibility of the building collapsing.
MoS, BvS, SS are not good movies. The idea that WB plans to make more like them is not a happy prospect.

I think it's also worth mentioning that a lot of critics just seemed bored with SS, which happens, and flaws becoming gratingly obvious when your bored.

I didnt read much of this thread, but does anyone think the movie could have been better with less Joker? I am wondering if they should have saved some of the Harley/Joker stuff for its own movie.

You make it sound like a big conspiracy or something. Most critics liked GB and hated SS. That's all there is to it. You should probably just accept that and move on with your life.

No. I agree with Snake. Harley is a character that works in an ensemble, but really not enough there for a solo movie. There is something called too much of a good thing, and this would be a classic case. She works because you look forward to her next appearance, but having a solo movie would stretch the character thin and take away from it in the end. Some characters are just better in smaller doses. And what material is there to mine for Harley? Out of all comic book characters she is certainly in the realm of not having much of a story and I can't even think of one classic comic storyline in which she played any significant role (I know she was created for true cartoon....but plenty of comics have been released since then for her to appear in). Let her just appear in he Batman movie and another Suicide Squad or two.

This isn't the 90's anymore. Will Smith isn't the box office draw he once was. I didn't realize you had such a man crush on Smith. I will leave you two alone now.

"Ghostbusters" had become such a "political" thing, -The Media saw it as "Stunted Adolescents and/or Social Media Trolls Who Hate Women" trying to shut down a movie, -and were inclined to give it a more positive spin. If the movie had sucked as bad as predicted, there wouldn't be a story.

I saw both and IMO SS was much more entertaining than GB16. My wife enjoyed SS more also.

Let's Hope 'Suicide Squad 2' Is More Like This Dark AF Fan-Made Joker and Harley Quinn Movie
Though the list of complaints surrounding Suicide Squad is seemingly endless, the leading criticism from diehard fans of Harley Quinn and The Joker's relationship seems to be that the film's unfortunate PG-13 rating really got in the way. If only every movie ever made could be a proudly R-rated concoction, am I right? Thankfully, a couple of fans took matters into their own hands by cleverly dodging copyright headaches and doing exactly that: giving us the disturbing Joker x Harley Quinn narrative Suicide Squad never could.
The Laughing Man, the fan-made YouTube short loosely inspired by Scott Snyder's 23-issue Death of the Family arc, has quickly scored nearly 300,000 views in just under a week. A quick glance at the clip's YouTube ratings shows that The Laughing Man has also been more roundly adored by fans and critics than Suicide Squad itself, presenting an interesting conundrum for Jared Leto's cutting room floor theory about a Joker-centered sequel.
"We wanted to tell a story that centered on the Joker without Batman showing up to save the day," Diego Hallivis, who created The Laughing Man alongside his brother Julio Hallivis, told No Film School Friday. "A story that didn't need to be PG-13 for commercial reasons—where the protagonist isn't necessarily a hero." The Hallivis brothers based their Joker on Jake Gyllenhaal's character from Nightcrawler, i.e. an actual psychopath.
The story of The Laughing Man, a truly unsettling slice of YouTubery that manages to pack a lot of terror into its 20-minute running time, centers on Joker and Harley Quinn as they proceed to relentlessly torture a psychotherapist while crowdsourcing their next move via a livestream. But above all else, it's fucking awesome.

I have no idea what perks you can extort from your employer. I'm honestly curious. Do you really not understand capitalism? Or are you just being a jerk because you don't like movie stars.
You do understand the psychology of someone who uses implications of homosexuality in an unwarranted attack? It means the attacker has issues with latent homosexual feelings.
Seriously, do yourself a favor. Go to your local community college and enroll in Intro to Econ and Intro to Psych classes.

And getting life advice from someone named after a character from two of the shittiest and most hated films of all time is hilarious. Carry on Professor!

In fact, it leapfrogged over Guardians of the Galaxy's previous record $11.9 million Tuesday, and also beat Captain America: Civil War's $13.7 million back in May, Avengers: Age of Ultron's $13.1 million last May and Batman v Superman's $12.1 million this past March.
