Have any of you rewatched Fawlty Towers in recent years? Try it. I did about 5 years ago and whereas once I thought it was very funny I now found it to be absolutely HORRIBLE. Nigh on unwatchable shit. It has not aged well in the slightest.

As for the Flying Circus, it was very hit and miss. ANFSCD was best to see them gather the best skits in one place. As for the movies Brian is easily the best. And I actually have a lot of love for the Meaning of Life. I would actually put the Holy Grail as the worst movie. And that is still pretty good.

I rewatch FLAY OTTERS every 12-18 months and still find it quite funny. I own 2 copies of FARTY TOWELS, one of which is loaned out to prospective likers of the program.

I rewatch Monty Python's Flying Circus every 24 months or so and it, too, is still quite funny, but like any skit show there are some which just don't quite work.

The Python movies get rewatched by me every 18-24 months or so as well.

Just typing this makes me want to pull 'em all out for rewatching...

In the last year we watched two of episodes of Fawlty Towers and were bored. We later watched four episodes of the Python TV show, and agreed that they were still quite funny.

So you disagree with everything i said? Thats amazing. I think most people would agree that Life of Brian is the best Python movie. I also think that most people would agree that the Flying Circus was VERY hit and miss. Its tended to have a lot of British humor, and even being British i found a lot of the skits painfully bad. Sure they had greats like paying for an argument, the parrot sketch, spam, Spanish inquisition, but boy was there also a lot of shit interspersed with it.

And as for Fawlty Towers. The show really is painful to watch now. Most might not agree, but i would suggest to them to go revisit it. Its really not as good as memory would have us believe. Saying that, compared to most comedy shows these days its golden.

Oh, and i do like the Holy Grail, i just find it the weakest of the Python movies. Its still excellent, but i preferred Brian and Meaning of Life.

Different opinions are awesome!

Your hit or miss comment applies to 99.99% of everything, of course.

I rewatch Fawlty Towers almost every year, and still think it is the best sitcom in the history of television.

And while I enjoy all their movies, Holy Grail is far and away my favorite, joining Jaws, Ordet, and Ben Hur at my top tier.

I agree, if you're new to MP, ANFSCD is the perfect introduction. It has some of their best sketches and was designed to put their best foot forward for the American market.

After that I'd say watch the other films in order. I think Life of Brian is the best of them, but Holy Grail is more popular and more quotable.

Also, Fawlty Towers is a perfect sitcom. Perfect. It will always hold up.
