If people paid more attention to movies, they wouldn't be wrong and post things that are wrong.

Ah, I forgot about Aragorn falls off a cliff, I agree that serves no purpose, same with the volleyball scene in Top Gun.

I believe the commentary notes that plotwise, it makes it so Aragorn is the one to notice the approaching Uruk-hai and warn Helm's Deep.

Re: Scenes that serve no purpose

We needed the volleyball scene so Kenny Loggins could get another song on the soundtrack.

Surprise by no mention of the Iron Man and Hulk fight which leads to the even more useless farm scene in Age of Ultron. And somewhere between that mess is the brief blink and you missed it Thor scene in the cave.

Now that I got that gripe out my system, it is back to seclusion for me.

I think we can assume X-Men 1 happened since Wolverine and Rogue are at Xavier's school.

Not necessarily. All we know is that they end up there, not how they end up there. It's not really surprising that two mutants would still end up with the Xmen in another continuity.

It leads to Marge returning to the auto lot to question Lundegaard. It's an important scene.

Can't you technically say that about most reboots? Like the Andrew Garfield Spidey movies, or Superman Returns?

Re: Scenes that serve no purpose

Surprised no one has mentioned Han Solo's scene with Jabba the Hutt in Episode IV, which just repeats all the dialogue we already heard in the previous scene with Greedo.

And I agree with the OP's comments about Iron Man 2. I've often said that movie could be edited down to a 45-minute episode of Agents of SHIELD. About half of it feels like deleted scenes were reinserted back into the film to pad the runtime to feature length.

I get what you're trying to get w/ the chuckle but ... you probably could have worded that better to solidify the haha..... unless you're serious.. then.. .well.... I guess I can sit back down on my crapper.

IF that was a serious argument, just to suck our own dick here, X1-X3 do serve purpose cuz Logan is the focus point of the timelines. He experienced it all and still remembers it. This is just me stroking the shaft and not cradling the balls though.

.
That's the scene Lucas added back in, right? I always assumed that they had to cram that info into the Greedo scene once they cut the Jabba one. And if you're opening this up to Lucas's vision for Star Wars, you could probably say that about most of the added scenes.

They did. The Greedo scene was re-shot after the Jabba scene was cut.

Still, if you're watching any of the post 1997 versions, it's hard not to notice that Han just said all of this 5 minutes earlier.
